This is a great essay on why salmon run is so fun. The forced switching of weapons and randomness inherent in the mode means you gather knowledge with different weapon types and are constantly having new and unique experiences in the mode.

It's useful at a basic level, but some weapons are used differently in salmon run. Rolling for rollers and brushes are way more useful because salmons never run away from your roller, and the high speed running with brushes makes it efficient for collecting eggs and saving other inklings. But in battles, rollers and brushes are about being sneaky.

This is very true. The way I see it, Salmon Run is about refining an understanding with the reflexes and mechanics of the weapons. How to interact with other players' mindsets can only be done on the battlefield.

Salmon Run is the best PvE mode I've ever played in a shooter. The bosses not only provide weapon knowledge but they also actively encourage different playstyles (such as aggressive, passive, stealth, or all three)

yo, this is an excellent idea. Tbh it kind of influenced my gameplay, I never considered the gatling guns until I used them in salmon run. Now I always use it in rainmaker. Also, the specials are randomly handed out too, gives you a feel that the training room can't for the actual use cases for those attacks. I wonder why the secondary weapons aren't random... I feel like that's the only issue with salmon run, everyone has the same bomb

If everyone had a different bomb, I think that'd have a drastic effect on how to fight some of the bosses, namely Maws and Flyfish. The Curling Bomb doesn't have a vertical trajectory, so it can't get Flyfish at all--those players would have literally nothing for him. Plus Curling Bombs and Autobombs would have very awkward timing with Maws.

So, to sum up the video in one sentence: PvE modes are better training grounds than multiplayer; particularly if the dev designs scenarios to showcase abilities.

Sorta. I'm a little hesitant to use the phrase "PvE" for two reasons: For one thing, I feel like that term is primarily reserved for MMOs (which Splatoon 2 is not), for another, even if we shed the MMO-Assumption, Splatoon 2's Singleplayer could be interpreted as "PvE" as well, but it doesn't do quite the job that Salmon Run does at teaching. That said, Salmon Run is better training grounds for the weapons, and can put you in the mindset of other players based on their weapon choices.

What's with good channels never uploading? *intro plays*

Good channels put out good content. In order to put out good content, one needs to put a lot of time into the video. Putting time into the video inevitably lengthens time between uploads. And that's what's with good channels *rarely uploading.
