I have been both freshwater and salt water my saltwater experience took about 5 or 6 years of my voting life and I loved it I felt like a captain I guess to be honest. My wife and I took extra classes once licensed were required and we had a couple of weeks of offshore classes provided free by the Coast guard auxiliary. That made us feel confident and special. However the saltwater life ended when all the corrosion and the cost you're talking about happening I decided there's no way I could keep up with that. So back to simple living with a wonderful little 14-ft Livingston. Very stable little boat and both my wife and I love it. At 75 years old that keep this where we are to be.

90% of my fishing has been done in fresh water, but hands down salt water is better. Not just from a boat off shore, but even in bays (my favorite because it is like fishing freshwater style but getting stringer more exciting fish), or from shore, or piers.

I boat both. We have Puget Sound and many awesome lakes. Saltwater is preferred though. Almost always see whales when we’re out cruising. Crabbing, did I mention crabbing......

I love your videos ❤ you have taught me so much. I'm a new boater. Well I'm a actually a just a new boat mechanic 😂 so far I'm just fixing the boat up and setting it up the way I want. I just had my trailer completely overhauled. My boat is really close to being ready. I'm finding that I'm getting more and more nervous about taking it out. I'm not even going to the ocean just a lake and I'm a nervous wreck 😂. It's not the lake that scares me it's the dock and putting the boat back on the trailer without damaging a beautiful hull. I've put my heart and soul into fixing this boat and it would kill me to hurt it. I'm sitting here with a cracked rib from working on the bilge pump. I was leaning over the back of the boat contorting myself like a pretzel and I heard a snap and had shooting pain in my small left side rib😮. Cant hardly breath today.

Lake Erie kicks up fast and gets rocking. You have to pay attention to weather before and during to avoid a dire situation.

I grew up and love fishing Lake Livingston, Sam Rayburn Reservoir...but in my adult life I dont have the time to spend getting there...we live on the Galveston Bay complex so we are almost entirely salt fishing...inshore and offshore...soooooo many species that make bass look like guppies....our two closest lakes ( Houston and Conroe) are know for partying, so we avoid the drunk boaters...navigating ship channels are not hard with a little practice and training. Most everyone has GPS on there boat.

The only reason I decided to get a boat is because of the big fish. I never cared for fishing when fresh water fishing. The fish just didn’t get me excited. Now the smallest fish offshore is a big fish on fresh water. Then everything else that goes with boating on the coast like exploring beautiful islands and beaches, going to the bahamas, and the beautiful scenery.

@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon I don’t have my own boat yet. Just put a deposit down on a sea hunt 255 SE. I’ve caught kind mackerel, a ton of Spanish mackerel and the biggest has probably a blackfin tuna. These were all on friends boats. Hoping to catch them on my own boat this summer.

For me, I'd rather have a salt water boat. The lake boats look pretty good though but the salt water boat takes on white caps and etc... then a pretty lake boat.
