Not exactly it. Back had to stay straight only shoulders touch the pad. Feet are too low for your flexibility. Upper body should stay inline with your quads the whole movement.
@YoMomma1337

It’s a sissy squat variation, Tom Platz used to do these exactly how Sam is doing them, puts a lot more emphasis on the quads.

That's the point. If you're on your toes you have more knee's over toes which means more quad lengthening. Just try doing squats on your toes.

Watch Tom Platz hack Squat technique. You come up onto your toes and push your knees super far forward. Makes the movement really really hard
@edgarcampista9523
4 ай бұрын
@sean6459 I thought you had to push through your heels to focus more on quads... But, if Platz the king of Legs does it that way, then fck it, I'll do it like him next time, but with 1 plate just to be safe
@joeserra9825

Yeah it is the stance. I can normally hack squat 4 plates after barbell squatting but this movement takes me down to 1 plate for 8-10 reps. Pushing through your toes takes away a lot of power and stability but it helps facilitate knees over toes.

@Sharkenite

@@edgarcampista9523 Be VERY careful doing it like this. Hack Squats with Sissy Squat execution can really eff up your knees. Go nice and slow at first, start light, and shoot for about 15 reps in equalization to a moderate percentage of your max. Maybe like 60%~70%? Whichever pushes those quads, but I would definitely not be doing 5 rep maxes like this. Tom Platz always went high reps for these, never low reps. If you can do these right, your quads will explode in vascularity!

It's because he's doing a Sissy squats variation of the hack squat where his heels come up and his knees go way over his toes. This is much harder than a regular hack squat.

All about moderation. Tom Platz was King and still is of this squat variation. Perfect execution, high rep with light weight, and rested a lot too. He didn't do these all the time, because he needed lots of recovery from squats, which is precisely why he has healthy knees to this day, he was not natural, so I would definitely take notes from Tom to prevent knee injury.
@elseby

This actually strengthens the knees. By doing this you're training your knees to activate at a longer extended position under load. Someone who does this has more durable knees than someone who squats flat footed because the flat footed squatter only is under load at a shorter extension.
