I used to go to square dance nights with mom in the mid 90s. It wasn't exactly "popular" culture at the time. But I am really grateful my mom took me to these classes. It was a social thing for the adults. But little did I know, it helped me to learn how to keep time. I became a better listener. And a bit of a better dancer. I remember a shuffle dance: Heel Toe Heel. Heel Toe Heel. Heel Heel Toe Toe Heel Home Split. (I never learned the ball Chung move) It sounds similar to this 8 count shuffle yall are displaying. It wasn't explained the same way But it sorta works out the same.
