@rudy2fat He passed in May 1990, so this has to be 89. His battle with cancer from diagnosis to death was for 9 months.

Jesus! When he got up and walked over with ALL his talent and experience and sang that song with the band did Anyone else???? have tears in their eyes? I'm 65 so really have been around and knew SD Jr was a major talent but this guy was at the top of his game! PS: Can you imagine the band went home floating on air--WE played for SD Jr tonight!

He handled life's ups and downs with class, style, and humour in such a way that he made you feel grateful to be alive and around that. That is a rare ability found in only the top performers.

Uncle Sammy transitioned when I was seven years old, I’ve heard stories about how great he was. Now as a 40 year old man I can see why my parents and grandparents used to rave about him, he was truly magical, just like all my people are. Shalawam.

I just feel blessed to have lived in the era of Sammy Davis Jr. What a blessing he was to this planet. What joy he brought to millions during his time on earth when it wasn't easy to do so. He pushed through and got it done.

Born 8 Dec 1925, and being 63 as he said he was, makes the year either late 1988 or 1989. Wow, these days I remember full well. Going down to Memphis, then San Diego, El Paso and the Frisco Bay. As he pointed out society in the 1950s wasn´t ready for mingling of people. Today it´s possible to an extent not to be even dreamed of then.

That Was so Good. Just so on the spot unrehearsed Raw! lnfact l wished this was released live on a cd. His voice was rich.. He's 63 here.. he would be Gone 3yrs later at 66.He refused surgery because he didnt want to lose his voice. He could have lived longer. Of course he would be near be 90 today. This was in the early 1990s.Miss him.

I was a boy when I first saw this and loved it like you wouldn't believe. When I was in High School I had this on video and played this episode out. I used "Time after Time" as my all-state audition.
