Hi Roger, this is fantastic! Thank you for sharing. I hope these are available soon. I’d love to experiment with them. Also, I happened to notice that you’ve been working as an archivist for Peter Gabriel since 2022, but it mentions it being for a Fairlight CMI III. I wasn’t aware he ever moved up to the III! I thought he stuck with his IIx to modern day and only ventured out to Akai samplers and the Kurzweil stuff until moving into Logic and EXS24. I’d be so fascinated to hear more about that if you’d care to share. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and work here on KZitem.

I learned sample editing on a MKI and MKIIx and loved having the monitor, I hated using the Akai rackmounts and ended up with RSI by pressing the small buttons with the unit in front of me, we ended up dropping the sampler into a self built desk rack, but then we got editors for the Apple computer although I vaguely recall editing samples with the Atari but cant recall what software it was.

Is this why Davinci Resolve has the Fairlight Engine (for audio)? That's badass!

Hiya! That's an interesting question. Yes. Steve Rance is the common element in the two, plus a few olf timer Fairlight people. It is very interesting to see things go almost full circle from 1975 / 9 until now. Not many people realised that us Fairlight people are alive and kicking :-)
