I watched this when it first came out and it’s been on my mind ever since, the feeling of the movie stays with you especially if you grew up in communities like this.

I got to see this at Telluride Film Festival when I was in highschool. I won a writing competition. We got the opportunity to meet Ken Burns. He was a stuck up prick who seemed to feel that talking with us was a waste of his time. The director of this movie was so enthused to be speaking to a group of fuck ups from a forgotten school. This guy realized he was illiterate and had to learn how to write to put this film on paper. This is an absolutely gorgeous love story and it deserves every bit of attention it can get. 'The Road' and 'Paranormal Activities' were the premier films in that festival, but this film really, really, really should've come out on top. Also, 'Le Prophete' was incredible. I'd skip watching Paranormal Activities a million times over to watch that movie.

I’m an EALD lecturer for AUSMAT, Malaysia...I am seriously contemplating to use this movie to show to my students to talk to them about what it means to be Australian, Aboriginal, and having an Australian identity, culture and lifestyle. I hope it’s good.

Computer games usually have written not oral history mimicry, Kings and war and natural forces only on the epic level yet seen through the eyes of one hero or heroine. The game No Man’s Sky has a Quintillion Star Systems and I wrote yesterday on a Facebook Page that I keep that a game using that technology could be a cosmic high erotica level game. But what if the issues were more human and of poverty and love triumphing even in deserts and forsaken colonies, or due to invasion the poverty is stark contrast against the alpha species centric conquering tribes yet love continues to flourish. So how about a million worlds devoted to “The Shapeshifting Adventures Of Lust And Love Of The Cosmic Aborigine.” Issues like in this Australian movie (Samson And Delilah) or what about like the movie Whale Rider from New Zealand or the Selkie mythology (Seal Mer-People myth) from the Innuit peoples of far North America, true passion for the Planet and life against all odds or struggle in the human world due to loss of connection to the land and Elders, are potentially possible on off-world colonies, so it isn’t necessarily going to be all paradise out there. Such a game would be worthy of the technology.
