Its funny that everyone said that samsung copied ios 16 in terms of lockscreen. But nearly no one knows that samsung can do that already for minimum of 4 years using its own app GoodLock. Now they just implemented it right into the ui instead of an extra app.

@Vasily Dude, iOS is known nowadays for having a badly designed UI, the back gesture alone is enough to prove that.. They also don't implement things perfectly anymore, stacked widgets were born out of necessity, same with the AOD (which got a lot of criticism and is still not quite there)

FYI : #15 was already available in Samsung's own useful original way. The sidebar tab on the right screen let's you access your preferred apps by just swiping the tab on the right side of your phone screen to the left , opening your customized app selection right from your home screen or just anywhere on your phone screen.

#11 The nice thing about this new feature is it knows some shapes really... (if your drawing is not to far off to recognize). So far I could get it to make ellipses and perfect squares like you showed and also perfect straight lines, smooth curved lines, perfect circles, triangles, pentagons, hexagons and five-pointed stars (which you can either try to draw directly or easier by drawing a pentagram). Really cool 👍

Can't wait for Fold version to come out. I've been using Fold 3 for about 6 months now. I don't want to use a regular smartphone anymore. Foldables are amazing! Although, I do miss that periscope zoom lens of S22 Ultra. Hoping Samsung adds it to the next Fold. And wouldn't mind if the screen size increased to 7.9", matching the old iPad Mini.

Oh yeah just say a Lotta fold 3 s out of warranty and no having big cracks....Folds are way overpriced, no dust protection, so so cameras no real zoom and lack a lot and gotta pay $60+ for inferior S Pen without Bluetooth

I mean, the Fold 4 exists, it does have 3x optical zoom with 30x digital zoom. And the slightly wider screens really make a big difference

Heads up regarding the auto optimization feature under device care (around 12:05), it is only available on my phone from the three dots settings on the top right under automation. There you can have it auto optimize daily, auto restart at set times, and there is a greyed out adaptive power saving for me.

The Modes feature will be familiar to Old Motorola users as Smart Actions. A highly beloved and useful feature of those old phones. I'm flipping out with joy that it is making a comeback, at least somewhere else!

That split screen functionality has been around way before this version of OneUI. It's basically the biggest reason why I jumped from IOS to the S10 back in 2019. I think one of the changes I saw (which is not in the older software) is that you can now quick activate split screen by swiping 2 fingers up from the bottom of the screen. Automating your Samsung phone has also been around for a while before OneUI 5. Its been shoved into Bixby routines, so you know nobody actually pays attention to it cos yknow.... Bixby. But Bixby routines and Routines+ (available via good lock) is pretty amazing

Thank you very much for sharing this knowledge. I'm still praying for a good one-screen tap (rather than pressing two buttons on the side of the phone) for screen capture. With all the development of camera tools, no one is thinking about screen capture. The need to press the volume down + the Power button simultaneously is so dumb. The latest update from Samsung caused the "Screen-shot touch" app to stop working or randomly work. I wish there was a reliable built-in floating icon that is part of the camera.

I have learned more in this video than by following a bunch of blogs and communities about OneUI5. Mostly they are centered on the visual appearance (which has not changed very much and still is full of inconsistancies and has both overly colorful icons paired with a bland general design). In here there are some useful hints - the first 3 tips I had just been waiting for.

When it comes to point 15, the stackable widget has been an option for a while now, I have it on my note 20 running android 12. But unless Android 13 changed this, it's only possible to stack the widgets on the stock Samsung launcher. I can't get it on Nova.

#16 - the stickers created, can it be used as an emoji? With iPhone you can Ps: thanks for the video, it's really helpful. But there are other editing features you missed out on. Such as if you record a video, you can now change the speed to either half normal or twice speed.

I'm just about to get the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE so this is SO exciting to me :D Also, I noticed that in the S21 first 21 features, you'd mentioned a video that would compare the S21 and iPhone 13 cameras. Is that still on the horizon? Also, would you be able to share any S21 camera settings for people wanting to take vlogging/ youtube videos for example? Much appreciated even if you can't 😄

@Linley Muhondo Only you know your situation, so obviously: you do you. But, just a suggestion: Do consider waiting (and saving) for another month(or more) and buying the s22. As John rightly said, it is much better, and the price difference is not too extreme for getting the next generation model... around 600 vs. 700 USD equivalent across the globe right now. And around the holiday season in December, the prices may go down even further.

Here is an 18th, you can use the goodlock moduel "RegiStar" and it allows you to have back tap shortcuts. You just enable it, and map what a double tap on the back of your phone does, or a triple tap (you can have both) its VERY accurate, and works shockingly fast. I use my double tap for discord, and triple for chrome, as those are my quickest accessed apps!

The device care widget is better than the app for quick use. It had a bit of a bug with the text in the widget randomly overgrowing the widget but they fixed it in an update i just received.

Only on folds then cause on one UI 4 on regular Samsung phones if you move the app towards the bottom and top edges the app will go full screen

I have a Note 20 Ultra 5G with Android 13 and just got One UI 5, and now my fingerprint sensor disappears a lot, is misplaced/shown and/or is only partly visible other times. This happens quite often since the update, but I know where the sensor is by habit, so I still press where it should be (but not displaying correctly) and my phone will unlock. Why is this happening? What do you think caused it and is there a fix for it? Thanks so much! ✌🏼 (United States)

i have been using Andorid 13 for just over a week now, i feel that in terms if smoothness its getting alot closer to ios now, Samsung continue to pump out updates with Goodlock, i cant think of any other feature One UI5 lacks...

Great video. I have noticed two things I dnt like with the new update, setting up the wallpaper is now a two handed job, the option 'done' is way high at the top of screen. Secondly, settings...app notifications, you could have the app notifications default with 'most recent' and now it just default to 'all' 🤔

Thanks for these tips. There are a couple that I cannot seem to access namely the histogram in pro mode photos and the selection tool in edit photo. If I tap the pencil edit icon I get a sub menu but cannot draw around the part on the photo. Could these be related to the model of the phone even though it is running OneUI 5.0 and Android 13? My phone is a Samsung A52s.

The best thing for me are the routines with a couple of nfc tags I can automate nearly any setting just in the normal settings without using other apps also u can do stuff like when u walk away from ur wlan ur lights turn off and maaany other powerfull things all in the routines settings

Thank you for the video. I always learn from your videos. However, this time I must correct you. A few times you incorrectly gave credit to Apple although it is exactly the other way around. The customization features of AOD were copied by Apple and not the other way around. The only thing that changed is how you customize it, i.e., the UI for the customization was streamlined. But the UI for the customization is not the result that you see and was copied by Apple. The same goes for stacked widgets. It existed under the name Smart widget in One UI already. Apple “borrowed it”. Also in this case, just the way you customize it has changed but not the result. Regarding the Quick split: it exists the same way in one UI 4.1.1. So, there is nothing new here.

A lot of these "features" are also available on the Pixel 7 running Android 13. So not sure if these are One UI features or just plain old Android 13 features.

I like that samsung and android are starting to get more hype over it's features and even older features we've had for a long time are starting to get some shine. Maybe now my family will understand why I used an s8 since it came out & waited until the s22+ to upgrade. It's so wild watching everyone get a new phone every year and I've been happily using the same one for so long.

Tip 17 is actually Bixby Routines but fully integrated into the OmeUI. it's nice

@died4u525 Bixby Routines are still there. When he shows the feature, on the bottom of the screen you can see that he is in the "Modes" tab and there's a "Routines" tab right next to it. If you select this, it does look exactly like Bixby Routines did before.

In the video it looks like Samsung really trimmed it down to make it easier for people who don't understand that stuff but in the video it also looks like it's missing a lot. I use my home WiFi network to trigger routines like when I connect because I've just arrived home. It's just been more reliable than using location for me. It didn't look like that was an option but I'm hoping it just wasn't shown on the video. I really hope Samsung didn't dumb down the Bixby Routines app and remove lots of very useful triggers and other things. I also have my phone announce when my battery hits 20% so I can charge my phone in case I don't realize the battery is getting low. Nothing like that was shown either.

I've been using Floating Windows for years on Samsung. It was in the Developer Options as an Experimental Feature.. I turned that on back in 2019.

The dynamic wallpapers also were available before through the settings and slide left from the lockscreen and it will take you to the categories Used it on s20+ for the last year

The watermark feature existed in 12/UI 4.1 The split screen feature is in 12/4.1

I'm typically lazy when it comes to updating my device and rarely do it as soon as an update comes available. Some great features on One UI 5.0 with the huge caveat of my battery life is now absolutely shambolic. Can barely get 4 hours of SoT now and for a device that's cost me this much money, I'm really not impressed.

If you can tell us how to fix the charging problem with S21 Ultra, I'd be impressed. Suddenly, fast charge stopped working. Same cables that have always been used, none of the settings have been changed, all 100% how they have been for months and months. Flashes up on the screen as fast charging when originally connected, but after a second, it switches back to standard charging. This also happened on the Galaxy S10. I'm guessing this must be a hardware issue?

I wonder if this might be a safety measure by Samsung to prevent older batteries from deteriorating quickly. Unfortunately like almost everything in life, very few things are designed to last forever.

Would like to see Samsung include a one tap answer a call and text option. There is - sort of thru an Assistant menu- but it means having a float gadget on the Home Screen that is constantly in the way.

5.1 has Bixby live call screening...it will ask purpose of call with Google voice and during call you can have text responses you cam give in live time

Great video WhatGear :) Quick question regarding the Battery widget: For some reason, it shows my phone and Buds+ battery, but I cannot get it to work with my Watch4? I have tried restarting the phone, unpairing the Watch, yet nothing works? Did I miss something?

UI 5.1 just rolled out to Samsung devices I got it on my Z fold 4 and s20 ultra and my tab 6 lite 2022 edition! What a difference its made to the s20 Ultra! Whole new phone amazing camera so kept hold of it and got the Z fold 4 the other day! I just couldn't part with the s20 ultra it's an amazing device now totally different everything works as it should have and better! I'm absolutely blown away with the camera fix finally! So Samsung leave it alone now it's perfect! Lol

The most annoying about the One UI 5.0 update is that some apps automatically are in landscape mode and you can't change at all unless you restart your phone and Samsung service centre can't even fix it

I have neither the stack widget nor the smart suggestions widget. Just updated to ONEUI5 on Galaxy A52s. I hate it when Samsung intransparently removes features from certain models like this...
