Thank you for the great video. I just followed your instructions and fixed the Flexzone drawer and the frayed wiring. You nailed it - we had the ice machine freezing up issue fixed a couple of years ago. Both issues seem common.

My cable was only being held by 2 out of the 8 wires, I removed it and solder them back together and used shirnk tubing on all to avoid shorts, the cables myst be made out of aluminum or something because it took a long time and flux to get a good union. Tested with multimeter on continuity, all good but my middle drawer control panel is unresponsive. I might take that apart to see if it can also be fixed. Thank you Sir, your video helped a TON!

Thanks very much your video, it really helped. Just a warning for those not in US (well at least here in Australia) the cable part that faces the front is much longer on the part number displayed in video, which maybe just my model (Family Hub French Door). Thought 'bugger!' but realised I could keep the original front portion of cable as undamaged and plug in rear of new which is exactly the same size/design, just need to cut through some clear sealing tape between the two connectors.

This Video was very helpful. I just used this process to change out the cable in my flex drawer as the cable was broken, sticking out and blocking the drawer from shutting. I was able to remove the clip that synced the two sides so only had to pull out the right side track. My fridge also had the ice maker freezing up problem, which Samsung came out and changed out the ice maker and new mother board. that was about 6 months ago, still working.

@@desease1 I just successfully replaced my cable. Thanks again! My original harness had a clip-on plastic pill-capsule shaped device that keeps the cable from spilling through the slot and interfering with the door slide. If the cable is fatigued and stretched thin causing it to jump the track, why not a thin wrap of duct tap to regain the thickness and stiffen up the cable.

That would be an interesting experiment to try. I somewhat question the long term viability and flexibility of electrical tape in a cooler environment. It may provide an acceptable interim solution, certainly less costly then a replacement OEM cable. Good Luck and keep me posted.

Hi. I am having the same issue. I called the place where we bought the fridge from and they can come take a look at it for $170 not including any labor charges. Should I just replace the wire myself? I am confused as to why this happens in the first place. The wire on my drawer isn't "broken" but it pops out of the track when closing the drawer, making it so the drawer doesn't close all the way. How does just replacing the wire fix this issue? Thanks
@mheriot

My wires weren't broken either but the sheathing had broken and the wire popped out of the track. No amount of pushing it back in fixed it permanently. $135 for the replacement harness and 1 hour of my time and everything is back to new, hopefully for another 6 years.

I removed mine when it teared a few months ago I did not have the 'plastic' bearing either the replacement was 140 $ Canadian I did not bother thinking it would just break again. today after power came back the drawer light decided to stay on . I repaired my cable and many thanks to this video I was able to reroute the cable ( I had completely forgot how to) . Are you 100% positive the replacement's thickness will prevent it from falling out ? The design on those Samsung is awful everything breaks or stops working. Thank you.

Your drawer didn't have a plastic 'bushing' that goes over the wire to help it slide inside that channel? What is to stop the wiring from popping out again in the future?
@desease1
2 жыл бұрын
There was no callout of such a part nor was there one there on the old cable. I think it is just the stiffness of the cable that keeps it wedged in the track. My old cable's sheathing had broken down and resulted in the lack of tension to keep it in the track. I've had no issues with the replacement cable.
@travisshrey6720

@@desease1 I wound up adding a small 1" x 3/8" lip super glued to the upper edge of the plastic rail. In my instance when pushing the drawer back in after fully extending it the new wire would buckle like the old and pop out, getting in the way of the drawer slide. Once I added the lip it successfully traps the wire and keeps it from popping out.

Interesting. I had the same problem. Samsung told me that it could not be repaired so changed the whole refrigerator. Rather bizarrely I also had problems with the ice maker freezing up. Again they replaced the whole fridge freezer. I’m now on my third fridge freezer. Each time they replace it I am given a completely new guarantee. The whole thing is ridiculous but why should I complain. It would be nice to obtain a complete service manual with part numbers. I now avoid Samsung and am surprised that they haven’t gone bankrupt.
