#GIVEAWAY 🔥 = SUBSCRIBE, Like, Comment and click this link to participate 👉bit.ly/tech-nick Hey Guys, thank you for all the support! 🙏 I hope you all enjoy the video as it took ages to put together 🔥I also wanted to quickly mention a few things: 1. In the past, many of you have said this and that about screen resolutions and said that because one phone is pushing more pixels than another it affects the battery life. Well, I have been doing battery drain tests for years now and have noticed the difference is extremely minimal (if any at all) and depending on the phone, sometimes I've seen greater battery life from a phone running at it's native QHD resolution instead of having it dropped down to FHD res. Just some food for thought 😅 2. All phones are sitting at 100% battery health 🙌 3. I always keep all the brightness levels, apps and app running times EXACTLY the same so that you can compare these results to other SOT results within Battery Tests on MY channel 😃 5. ALL phones are global variants running on GLOBAL ROM, except for the OPPO which is running Chinese ROM since it is a Chinese exclusive device and never launched globally 👀 6. Some surprising results in there Nick. I didn't expect the Mediatek chip to do so well. I wonder how the Find X7 Ultra would have gone with a glass back, as high temps shorten battery life and that plastic back will insulate and hold more heat in. I guess you could test the Find X7 Pro with plastic VS glass back as that model comes in both glass and plastic. Might be interesting to see if this plastic (vegan leather) trend is good or bad for phone performance and longevity, because hot batteries deteriorate faster too. I don't think anyone has tested that directly before. Thank you for spending the time to do these tests for us. ps. I know the plastic backs are called vegan leather, but It's not leather nor vegan. It is just plastic with a layer of silicone over it.

Thank you Nick, for this amazing video! I love your tests because I can just go back to the old ones and compare without any issues, that's not something other youtubers' tests allow me to do. Besides, you check for temperatures which is vital for everyone! Props to Vivo and Oneplus for stepping their battery game up this year and matching/beating the S24 Ultra. Everyone gets good battery this year! Oppo should've gone with 5400 or 5500 mah battery since it's a cameraphone but the huge modules affected the cooling obviously so battery had no more space as well it seems. But if Samsung can put an S Pen and have a 5000 mah battery I think Oppo can put in 5400 mah or larger battery, this phone deserves it!

I think the way we are recording temperature is flawed. We should see the processor temperature in the software instead of recording the outer device. A phone that is hotter is probably indicating that the phone has a great heatsink that spreads the heat away from the processor causing the exterior of the phone to be hotter. Most phones are made of glass and metal which also conducts heat as well. A comparison of phones made with leather back and plastic versus the glass back and metal frame to see if these materials trap the heat in the device

Apple tends to improve the battery after 3 to 6 months of updates, so the earlier tests are mute. The latest iOS, 17.4 beta improve even further, maybe another 30 minutes. Let’s see if the S24 ultra can improve with updates.

It all depends on what apps they use. Look at how at the beginning of the test the Oppo was ahead of the Samsung but once he started to run benchmarks it dropped significantly and ended with a lower score. Same thing with other phones, different usage gives different results.

@eduard6450

@@andyH_England that can't be the case because vivo actually lasted a lot when it had like 5% battery left whereas Samsung died very quickly. It's just that they let the chips run hotter and perform better while Samsung cuts down the power to prevent excessive heat and battery drain. You can see this happening during the antutu test.

@@eduard6450 true, I just wanted to say that I never saw it before with for example the S23 U and 14 PM (the 14 PM won in 90% of the tests) and emphasis again that the S24 U improved. None of the videos is wrong and they each show the weaknesses and strengths of the chips in certain tasks.

I can tell you. It will NOT make any noticable changes when it comes to battery life or real performance. Such updates never made any night or day differences and never will. They will address 'accents' and improve issues. Again, we have never ever had dramatic changes with updates. Unless we had insane battery drain issues due to a bug.

benchmarks don't really simulate gaming, they use workloads that very different ( floating point tests) from games and they intentionally overload the phone more than any game would, and they aren't designed to be run for an hour. if more real life use cases were used in the video I doubt the Samsung and the iPhone would have taken the lead

There is also another reason why the iPhone has improved over the last 4 months in battery life and thermals. When new it was the first version of 3nm so Apple and devs had to optimise. The first gen of any chip is the worst at efficiency, whereas the S24U and rivals are on 3rd gen 4nm so have had 2-3 years of time to perfect. That is why gen 2 3nm will likely see a big jump in efficiency; Samsung and others will skip straight to gen 2 3nm so will also benefit next year.

Would also like to see it pointed out that the iphone has a smaller, lower resolution screen, with even less screen area to illuminate inside it's borders. If I cut 12-15% of my car off it would be faster and get better MPG with the same engine. If they saved customers money with the smaller battery, that would be brag-worthy... but they still charge full price in the highest price tier so that's actually worse.
