12:24 Most of the stress here was trying to overcome the excessive friction due to the overly tight fit. Had the hole been enlarged slightly (by use of a small drill bit (say) and had grease been applied, the part might have had a fighting chance. Under the strain caused by the excessive friction, the original part would have broken as well, due to the high stresses generated over the small cross-sectional area of the peg.

I don't know what eBay idiots will pay for a working conversion machines like this because i don't go on eBay, but I know what my clients are prepared to pay for them and it isn't much. Had a guy bring me 2 broken machines he picked up for 20 bucks each and paid me 50 to make 1 good one out of the 2. Unfortunately some eBay sellers think these are valuable and in reality they are not. 30 years ago when people were shipping tapes around the world perhaps but the internet killed that so now the only people interested in these converting machines are people that have immigrated and brought their old inconpatable tapes with them. These types however tend to be the type that offer the least for it and will grind you down on price.

I started watching the video thinking the spare gonna broke after a couple of loads, but then it has another broken parts harder to print/design. I guess all the plastics on that mech are ABS. Ahh you figured it out. Its still instructive though, in that you demonstrated why 3D printing is not a sufficiently advanced material science yet to produce low quantity precision parts of sufficient strength to replace the original parts. The original material looks like a combo Nylon and Plastic metamaterial. I've seen the exact same material on high pressure hose nipples coming from a Gas tank fuel pump assembly. Probably a multistep pressure and curing process to create the part in the first place to get the shape and strength. Making a mold and casting a part from Resin might be more successful.. but a lot of effort. Scavenging parts from a different recorder that failed for a different reason is probably the only thing practical. 3D printing is still wishful thinking.

@@mrnmrn1 the thing is these multi system conversion machines these days have very little value. Back in the 80s and 90s when people were mailing tapes around the world family videos they made a lot of sense. If you had relatives that were sending you video talking letters basically a family you could play them on your ntsc TV. Companies like myself use them to convert tapes for people that weren't getting a high volume of tape sent to them. Today nobody sends pal and secam VHS tapes to their relatives. There is no conversion business these days. I used to do on average 10 to our tapes or more every week, I had regular customers that were showing up bringing me tapes to convert to pal to ship overseas or to convert to ntsc that they receive back. That market has completely dried up, and I see maybe one or two tapes a year that somebody has found and has not had converted or they had it converted and lost the copy and want it done again. I actually see more PAL DVDs to convert over to NTSC using my universal player. These were generally commercial tourism discs that someone bought it in Europe and brought it home and their domestic player refused to play it because of the region code. So the market for these multisystem conversion machines these days is very low because there's very little conversion business because nobody is sending VHS tapes back and forth anymore. They only have value to someone who say immigrated and brought their entire tape library with them. The thrift store a few months ago had an SV 5000 sitting on the shelf with a $50 price tag on it. I should have bought it but I thought what do I need this for I've got a machine that does pal and it just sits there collecting dust so why do I need another one? The guy that owns this one seems to think that someone's going to pay him six or seven hundred dollars to buy it I say good luck if you can find a sucker then go for it but the people I know that would buy a machine like this in working condition wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for it and these are people that have tapes that they brought over from Europe when they moved here.

On the newer SV-7000W I tried as a test to drop in the whole mech fron a standard hi-fi SV621 with drum and all and it seemed to play fine (even though the mech was a tiny bit different.)
