People played like total dicks in early baseball. And football. And American football. It's why we have so many rules about what you CAN'T do. People did everything they could think of, which is a lot of stuff. You get people playing a sport and they will come up with all kinds of heinous things you wouldn't think of to do to mess with the other team and generally win. Even with our current "don't slide into people, they could get HURT" style, people are always pushing it and being obnoxious strategically. Why? It wins ballgames.

Jerry Harway the thing about this anime is that the music is far unique than those you’ve pointed out, and this show actually shows more emotional feels than any of those (laughter, sadness, anger, relief), Samurai champloo is far 100x more better than the “bullshit” you pointed out, so do all of us a favor and shut the hell up.

@@DrunkenDarkSoul I'm quite sure that Funimation had the permission to use the same music as the sub. I've never heard of the SamCham dub having music censored before. They even got to use "El Nino" from Olive Oil (the music that plays when Mugen is throwing the ball and taking out the Americans)

AstroPopo a lot of the original music was cut out probably due to budget or Internationale legal matters and I think the fancy pitch didnt make sense without the music so it got cut too. "Aurain dance" played a little but my favorite "Feather" is not in the English version of this episode. nor was "Fly"

Samurai Champloo is actually full of inaccurate "history lessons" (I think the word for that is anachronisms). There's a whole site dedicated to listing inaccuracies in it.

+This Operation Has been RETREATED!!! This show actually takes place in the late Edo Period(1603-1868). This Episode if I remember correctly states this show takes place about a decade, or two before the Coming of the Black Ships when Admiral Perry persuaded(intimidated) the Japanese into opening up to Western Trade in 1853. America was definitely a country when this show takes place, but this show is full of inconsistencies.

Boondocks started back in 1999 as a comic, before Samurai Champloo was released. Not only that, but the creator of Boondocks, Aaron McGruder, was influenced by anime in general.
