What a slick, if not the Slickest lens of its class. Glad to see your reviewed, while using A7ii that is known, not to be good with AFing and still seems this lens shines. Definitely its going to be my next purchase. Thanks for your good review.

I'll shoot this one with a preset limit on Auto ISO at f5.6-8 for most pix on my a7r3 since its two native ISO ranges have proven to be enormously flexible. Landscapes and still objects will be tripod shot at ISO 100 or thereabouts.

Im adding this lens to my Samyang 35 1.4 . Also a great value lens with many advantages its only draw back, size and weight. (Yes I love the 35mm format)

I got this lens for the 7AIII. It is nice and light, it focuses fast and gives a great picture quality from full open.

Great review as always! I'm seriously considering selling my Nikon gear and switching to Sony (A7 III). This is definitely a lens I'm considering!

I have just purchased a7. And thought about the cheap 50mm 1'8... I have micro 4 3 20mm and 45.....and 100 300.... I do like shooting ultr wide... But money is a problem... Got the 35 for width and value and I must say.. Its great... The 24 mm does get critasised....

This lens doesn’t have a metal mount. It’s plastic painted to look like metal. That said it’s a great value. Thanks for the great video.

my 35mm samyang f2.8 make so loud continuous noises. As if the camera is looking for focus all the time. Is there anyone experiencing the same thing? is there any solution to that? If not, then Zeiss is waaaaayyyyyy much better though the price is twice as samyang.

Do you have pre-af on?

You might also want to upgrade the FW on the lens because the latest one improves AF.

How would you compare this with Sony Sonnar T FE 35mm f/2.8?
@StiffUpperLens

This lens is based on the Sony however I cannot directly compare the two as I haven't used the Sonnar. All I will say is the optics of this inexpensive lens are excellent.

I own the Zeiss one (it is AMAZING) and I am very very tempted to buy the Samyang/Rokinon one just to see if it’s as good as everyone claims it to be. It’s a bloody bargain, so I think it’s worth the try.

can you put ND filters on this lens?

Yes you can! What's great with this is because the lens is so dinky you can attach smaller filters and save on cost also.

You keep saying, `straight out of the camera, no processing` which is an impossibility. It`s either a jpeg, which your camera has processed, or it was raw data processed by adobe. What exactly do you mean? Have you set all adobe`s raw processing settings to zero? The images then would be much much flatter.
@StiffUpperLens

+dopamining imported raw into Lightroom with no processing added, widely accepted as a straight out of the camera method.
