The “if you have nothing to hide, you can speak to the police without a lawyer,” and “ if you’re innocent you wouldn’t behave that way” are statements repeated by those who speak them out of naïveté of crimes, punishment, and how the legal world works, and an abuse of power from those connected in any way, shape, or form in investigating, or prosecuting those crimes. I don’t care if it’s a broken tail light, speak only when a lawyer represents you. The stress of being accused of anything you did not do, tear down your reputation, losing everything you worked for, as well as family and “friends” is beyond words. I see Mr. Kevin Charles Brown. I see you, and I feel you-Kevin Brown. May God Almighty keep you in His Grace. As far as his wife: Good for you-for not letting Goliath mess with you and your family! Good for you!

Reminds of a cab driver in England. A woman he drove was murdered and his DNA got blown onto her nail polish while she did her nails. "How did his DNA get on her nails if he didn't kill her?" A test was redone and it was confirmed that his DNA was only on the surface of her nails and not beneath them. Lucky man. He was facing life for a crime he didn't commit. I don't know if the real killer was ever sought out.

Amazing what you can trip over by accident. Really enjoy your blogs Lamont, going to the places the people you talk about lived, met their fate and ultimately, their final resting place and your ability to describe the people involved and their lives really makes the viewer feel a connection . I too have always been captivated by the head stones bearing a picture of the individual resting there, like you, it is the young teen and twenty somethings that also makes me wonder what brought that young life to that place they now rest. I always wonder as I look at their picture, what were they thinking at that moment. As a soldier at war, you far too often see a kid that hasn't been out of high school a year and what they got is all they got, a small glimps of a life they might have had.
