The 33 was the first TT line in SF. It was actually a Market St. Railway line. As a streetcar line the turn required a switchback.

The ride on the 33 is worth the price of admission!!

wicky201 same with the 39 and 24. Especially the 24 because of how the buses battle the steepest bus route in San Francisco

That hairpin turn on Clayton/Market on the 33 Stanyan line is insane! Nothing like that in Washington.

8:26 The moment I was waiting for. Maybe not the best idea to plan the trolley bus lines.

By the way, I watched a video, where a turning loop was with 2 tracks, that one bus can pass another, in the switch, the right pole remained in the right track, the left pole in the left track. There was no problem, it was the only vecicle in the loop and before the end, both poles were again together. It's amazing how flexible the poles are.

In Germany they called initially it also "trackless" but later a word, that translated literally means "Upper line bus". Nicknames were "Rods bus" or "Cords bus"

Bird didn't fly away fast enough and the coach was moving faster than the bird could get lift and the bumper tapped it, but the bird was fine.

Upper Market, that tight turn....do you know how many times I watched the driver have to get out and reposition the thingies on the lines? They always would drop off. I had to commute over the hill from St Francis Woods and up over the hill down Market and I saw that poor driver have to do that almost every other day. Maybe he was a lousy driver, I dunno.

Should do a little bit of narration, Kevin. Just a suggestion. My grandpa worked for MUNI, he drove the J car line, my mom worked for them too, and my husband works as a technician on the light rail cars.

I enjoyed those ordinary street scenes. Frisco is truly f a r more deserving than Montreal at being the continent's most European city.
