The Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj) hosted a panel discussion at History San Jose's South Bay AAPI Heritage Month Festival entitled, "San Jose Japantown's Past, Present, and Future: Dialogues on Collective Memory and Belonging," exploring three different generational views of the Japantown community.
The panel featured Warren Hayashi, long-time Japantown community leader; Tom Izu, JAMsj Advisory Board member; Wisa Uemura, Executive Director of San Jose Taiko; Susan Hayase, Co-Founder of San Jose Nikkei Resisters; Crystal Rast, Japantown cultural arts organizer; and Vanessa Hatakayama, Acting Museum Director of JAMsj.
