For those who may have concerns about Mexico travel to San Miguel de Allende I offer through this video the Covid report.

Thank you so much for your great video. Safety is a concern traveling from the airport to the destination towns (e.g. San Miguel, Morelia, Puerto Vallarta, or other towns) as I have seen maps showing the drug cartel exists in every area of Mexico. Most recently, towns such as San Miguel or cities like Mexico City have been taken over by cartel. How is this part of life as an expat or short term (e.g. 1-a few months)? Much appreciate your input as I would love to visit even move, I'm afraid you're right, the media has sent a different message to the rest of us. Safe travel :)

Thank you Zofia. I’m afraid you would be very bored traveling with a vlogger. The majority of the time is spend with my face in my computer. 😆

We bused to Guanajuato first (from Mexico City) then to San Miguel. After the colour and hills of Guanajuato, San Miguel seemed a bit underwhelming. We loved the student vibe in Guanajuato. San Miguel had too many ex pats - which really changes the feel of a town (and inflates the prices). In SM, we loved the Parque Benito Juarez, cocktails on the roof of the Rosewood and the excellent nearby cantina EL Manantial. In Guanajuato, go for a sunset cocktail on the fancy roof top of Bartola. I also recommend Los Campos restaurant and the excellent regional museum Alhongida (where Hidalgo's head was hung by the Spanish during the revolution). Thanks!

@@timelesstravelclub6240 We stayed in the cute view hotel Balcon Del Cielo - at the top of the funicular near the statue (the hotel fee included unlimited rides and free breakfast at the very nice Casa Valdez at the Jardin de la Union). Going up the funicular to Al Pipila is a must (you can walk down). We met a wonderful walking tour guide at the Jardin across from the Teatro. His name was Manny and he was in his 70s. He had so many interesting stories about his upbringing and life in GTO - he took us into the law school where his son studied and into the cathedral where he had been an alter boy. It was probably the best tour we have been on anywhere. You will find the guides across from the Teatro in the morning. You can chat with them and check prices and interests. If Manny ("the moose" because he walks up and down the hills every day) is still there - book him for sure!

@@Vancouver_Dan I found him! You’re right, he is a gem. Manuel will actually turn 80 in a couple months and he is in amazing shape. He and everyone else are hurting though. He said he used to have two tours per day and now he’s lucky to have two in a week. I’m going to feature him in my video. Hopefully more people will look him up. Thanks again for passing his name.

Andy, thanks for this insightful video. Good job as usual. Quick question,if I were to fly over to Leon is there a bus to San Miguel?
@timelesstravelclub6240

There is a bus but for some reason even the locals recommended a taxi. Hauling my luggage to and from a bus station and then onto a taxi to hotel was worth the extra money to skip by getting into one taxi that takes me and drops me on my hotel doorstep. BTW I stayed overnight in Leon after my flight.
