Oh man! My father's the same! I had dengue and was in the hospital for more than a week. My father had to travel far so he was only able to visit me on my 4th day in the hospital. I was in the worst situation during my entire stay. The staff was on the lookout because anytime I might need blood transfusion. But my dad took one look at my disheveled self on the bed, barely having the energy to open my eyes, and he said "You look okay. Get up, we're leaving tomorrow." Even in my weakened state, I felt a surge of energy fueled by anger. 😆😆

My dad is exactly the same, i once burnt my thumb with my iron and it was hurting but my dad just told me to be strong and it would go away. And this happened every time i was hurt or ill, he would always say to not have medicine and just get through the pain even when i am bleeding, and at first, I used to think my dad didnt care about me getting hurt but growing up I realised, that he was making me more stronger and so i wouldnt cry for even the smallest of pain and that when i am hurt, I wont sit there and cry but get up and be strong. Obviously i am not immune to my pain or others pain and i am not saying children cant cry but i am glad he raised me like that because it means i can take on more pain and since in life i can experience any sort of pain i wont be weak and crumble in the pain. And i think thats what San’s dad was teaching San, which i think is commendable😊🥰

This way of thinking isn't healthy at all lol. Children don't NEED to cope with pain like you're describing. It doesn't build character because you learnt to cope, it “builds character” because you learn at a young age that your parent isn't someone you can depend on. What you described is simply neglect at best and abuse at worst. Literally illegal in certain cases, and as many studies show, often traumatic instead of helpful. Stop spreading misinformation just because you happened to turn out “fine”.

I know it seems harsh, but parents like this really do help you in the long run. Just look at how San developed into such a beautiful human being and was taught very valuable life lessons. not to throw shade on the boys or the whole industry, but idols are some of the most coddled people in the entire world. they have teams of people looking after almost every aspect of their lives. while I don't know what wisdom his father tried to impart on him, I really doubt he ever envisioned his son leaving for the big city and sing, dance and do agyo for teenagers. again, no shame in this, especially not in a country where it's SUCH a big industry, but we're aren't talking about navy seals level of strength and fortitude here

@@Theoneandonly._.yeah this is the issue.. not all parents who try to teach lessons through this method will get it right all or even most of the time. It's also a method that if it does go wrong, it can go incredibly wrong. You could kill your child, kind of wrong.

My dad thought that since he worked for it and my mom made it all the kids better eat everything on their plate…I have food allergies. 😒 I mean he LEARNED eventually when I ended up in medical distress bc of him forcing me to eat. My doctor said I needed to not eat or touch those things bc each time I was getting worse and next time an Epi pen might not work. Parents can mean well because they love you. But they can also be wrong at times, like every human being, nomatter what age. You know the best, with how you feel... and sometimes parents can't SEE that...they are no doctors ( except for the parents who Are ofcourse) Just keep reminding/saying them, when you REALLY don't feel good. Something has to be done! (Doctor/hospital). I was with my mom to another town, going to a market. We were only there for 15 minutes.. I said: Mom, i don't feel well...can we go back home please? She said: No, we just came here. The next second I fainted, totally knocked out on the street, don't even know for how long I was K.O. When i woke up....some people from the market had laid me on something...and an ambulance was called. We didn't go with the ambulance...but went back home by taxi...i still felt awful. At home the doctor was called, he came...he said i looked very pale, after examining seemed I had a tough stomach- virus. I got antibiotics...took me almost 2 weeks before i was completely myself again. This is WHY i wrote the text at the beginning. Always watch your health, friends. Love & Hugs.
