Thank you for taking the time to listen and appreciate Sanford Townsend. I'm a very proud niece and daughter. My father sang background on the record Billy Townsend. My Unka Johnny and Ed are so very wonderful. These albums are pure joy for us. Us Townsend's we're born and raised in Tuscaloosa Alabama. Without Blues there is no Soul.

My Dad would always grab my Mom and start singing and dancing this with her when it come on the radio. It was a joke between them because of the lyrical content, they were both very much in love with one another. Thanks for the happy memories Dad! I loved your reaction Harri it was wonderful of you to share this with everyone.

This is another one of those great "One Hit Wonders" from 1977. The band had some other songs but not very successful. Sanford & Townsend returned to their careers as session musicians & songwriters.

Ed Sanford (from Montgomery, Alabama) and Johnny Townsend (from Tuscaloosa, Alabama) were session players and song writers living in Los Angeles in the mid 1970's when they got a record deal... they had this one big hit on their first album, they did 3 albums from 1976-79... never had another top 40 track... so went back to doing what they did before... sessions and song writing... they both are still alive as of February 2023... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanford-Townsend_Band

Sanford and Townsend were very successful studio session musicians and songwriters. Unfortunately this was their most successful track. I for one enjoyed this entire album! I have heard this song many times and never knew who it was. I actually thought it was Van Morrison 🤷🏻♀️. Anyway, I never heard of this band, so I think they might have been a “one hit wonder”. In any case, they sound good. Thanks Melissa. I like learning new bits about older songs, especially if it clarifies a faulty assumption I made. 🌺✌️
