well I hope you're still with us and that you got to see Santana AND that they played "Hold On", my personal favorite song by the band. I'm surprised you don't remember it getting decent rotation on rock stations in 1982.. It wasn't a number 1 single, but it was on the airwaves for a few months and then you never heard it again.. I was 10 the year it came out and I was glued to MTV at the time..of course.. but of course it was pure music then, and not the piece of human excrement that it is today.... I'm 50 now.. this brings back memories
@billpiech7564

@@shanedangers Thanks for the shout back. You bet I'm with you. I don't know when it came out. I wasn't into MTV much. Working full time as a mechanical designer and going to night school for my BSEE. I'm 76 now and still can dance like we used. I'll crank this song up when I'm driving because it makes me feel so vibrant. In 66 to 70 I was stationed in San Diego with the Navy and his music brings back good memories. My other favorite is "Stormy". It was originally done by the "classics IV" in 1968. Their version still sounds great. Another one "Spooky". Also like a version by the Atlantic Rythym Section in 1979. The guitar player on there rocks. There are so many great songs. I really got into "Steely Dan" Went to a couple of their concerts. Well I hope 2023 turns out to be better than 22. Take care

Just listened to this 3 times in a row. Takes me back to a simpler, crazy, innocent time. Santana was a fulcrum (of the heart) in the abandon of the 80's.

Freaking favorite song from 82! Brilliant brilliant!! It has an “I’ll Be Around”vibe. When song starts, try “This… is our fork in the road…” magic!

Trivia: Gregg Rolie returned for this album. He hadn't been a member of Santana since 1973, when he formed Journey along with guitarist Neal Schon. Yet he doesn't sing here... that honor goes to Scotsman Alex Ligertwood, who first joined Santana in 1979 and was an on-again off-again member until 1994.

Great vocals by Alex Ligertwood. I saw him perform last year with Jim Peterik's World Stage show. He did three of his Santana hits. He comes out in a black outfit - a very slight man. Seemed like a somewhat frail old man but then he opened his mouth. Yowza - still terrific at 70 years old.

Ian Thomas was such an incredible talent. Combining Ian with Santana was pure magic. But I must say Ian's own version of this song is on par with Santana's. Incredible talent all around.

when i was 7 years old he has been the musician who made me dream to become a percussionist. In my dreams i was on stage with him playing congas and thank to this great artist my dream came true 31 years later during his europeen tour in 1998 in France.I felt like i was in heaven when he said my name to introduce me to the audience. thank u mister Santana to still give me the energy, the feeling, the inspiration to play percussion at almost 56 years old. ( sorry for my english).
