Do you know if elemental Sulfur also bumps up the sulfur level or is it only used to move the ph?

I just reviewed a few of my old newsletters, and came up with the following: Yes, elemental sulfur can help bump up the sulfur level in the plant tissue. However, this takes time because the plant cannot take in sulfur in its elemental form. First, it must be converted by microbes into sulfate. Sulfate can then be taken in by the plant. This process can take weeks to months to years. Generally, 30-40% of applied elemental sulphur is converted to plant-available sulphate throughout a season. One of my newsletter articles, written by a soil scientist, stated, "Regarding sulfur, if you have applied gypsum to balance calcium and/or elemental sulfur to balance pH, it is safe to assume you'll have sufficient quantities for your patch needs. If not, 3 lbs of powdered gypsum per 1,000 sq ft at pre-plant will get you up and running."
