Ong Tiang Swee was the 2nd generation of the Ong Clan which started with the coming of the patriarch, Ong Ewe Hai, to Kuching in 1846. Tiang Swee took over the role of his father as a community leader at a young age of 25. Well known for his fairness and integrity, he went on to be the most influential Chinese leader of his time.
