Matar mushroom matan style is a delicious North Indian dish made with green peas and mushrooms in a creamy tomato-based gravy. Here's a step-by-step recipe to make it in a pressure cooker:
Ingredients:
1 cup green peas
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 medium-sized onions, chopped
2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 cup fresh cream
3 tbsp oil
Salt, to taste
Water, as required
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnishing)
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes away.
4. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté until they turn mushy.
5. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
6. Add green peas and mushrooms. Mix well with the masala.
7. Add enough water to cover the veggies. Close the pressure cooker and cook on high flame until 2 whistles.
8. Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
9. Open the lid and add the garam masala powder and fresh cream. Mix well.
10. Cook the matar mushroom on low flame until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
11. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
