Agreed! This had me excited as a new homeschooler but then it was so repetitive and not fun! My husband and I both have advanced science degrees and this just didn't measure up.

I’m so glad “science people” are skeptical about it too! ☺️

This was really help full. I really liked the log book but I've still been on the fence about this one. :)

I beg to disagree. For whom is it too much? The kids? The adults? Kids will spend hours upon hours on video games, etc. But to sift through some tales to learn science is too much? That’s what’s wrong with. K-6 learning! It kills creativity, adventure, etc. I think the books can double as ELA and Science overlap. Kids like stories and stories help them bridge the gap between their need for creative and imaginative thought and the informational learning that schools or homeschools offer. That’s just my take, as homeschooling dad and a former K-14 teacher who also taught two graduate courses for teachers.

I felt the same. Even with the audiobook, it felt the chapters were really long and drawn out way more than needed.

@@KidsLearningforLife the premise sounds so awesome. But, it was so close.

Yes, yes, and yes. I bought the first book because we like Story of the World and I thought this would be similar. How wrong I was! I don't even want to finish reading it because it takes too much time to read the chapters (doesn't fit comfortably into our school day) and my kids don't like the logbook. We'll be moving on to something different.

You had almost an identical experience as I did! The chapters were way too long and I didn’t enjoy reading it at all. It was just way too much work for busy homeschoolers. What are you using now?

@@KidsLearningforLife I haven't chosen anything, but am leaning towards something from MasterBooks. We're a busy family and I don't want to take the time to gather my own materials together. I would like something laid out and easy to implement. What did you switch to?

I actually switched to no curriculum at all 😂 I posted a video about it. For science only, we’re going to try a more interest-led approach since I’ve tried several curriculums and none fit into our homeschool day very well. We’ll also focus on nature study/observation.

Hi. So what’s a better recommendation?

Hi! I don’t have one quite yet. I am going to try a science unit by The Good and the Beautiful this year.

I agree. I was expecting a Thornton Burgess style. I was disappointed that the science info was just a list of facts in 1 or 2 paragraphs.

Exactly! It would have been so much better if it was like the books by Burgess. My kids and I LOVE those. So that’s what I’m using now instead!

I agree 100% that the story was too wordy. I could read the first and last sentence of each paragraph and still get the majority of what we needed. It took a LONG time to read. I did see someone else only get the teachers guide. And read the books suggested from the library (not the main chapter book), and then do the activities if wanted from the guide. That's an intriguing idea. Sorry it didn't work for you guys either.

That’s interesting about just using the teacher’s guide! I didn’t really think of that, but that’s a good idea. Thanks for sharing!
