But that said, you play how you enjoy it the most and its really cool you can share the experience with your son.

Nice Video as for the sound crackling I had this issue when I first started recording. Turned out it was the audio rate on the recording VS the audio rate to the editing software. ie. 44.1kHz recording and the editor working at 48kHz. The easiest way to see if this is the same issue for you is if you watch the original recording via a media player and it's fine then after editing it comes in you just need to change the audio rates to match eachother. hope that helps but good job hope you have many hours jamming games with your son.

Regarding multiplayer desync/rubberbanding: while setting network quality to ULTRA definitely helps (and you should set it), as of current EA release, it will NOT eliminate the client update/desync issues. Host will experience very close to normal single-player-like gameplay, but all connected clients will time-share bandwidth allocation. This means the problem is more pronounced (for clients) with more connected clients. Base building is fine, but it severely hampers the multiplayer 'exploration' aspect of Satisfactory under current EA. Forget about joint missions deep into the Red Forest with your three friends.. They won't see the mobs that are killing them. I HIGHLY rate Satisfactory however, and if it looks up your alley you should definitely buy it- singleplayer or duo experience is very good, just be aware of the current limitations and hope the network coding is improved with patches at a later date.

As for progression, overall I agree that you get buildings progressively in very good way, but I wish either there was a way to automatize biomas burners or to get coal generators faster a bit. The constant need to refill biomass generators is so tedious early game, especially playing alone for the first time.

AUDIO: Crackle. As an audio dummy myself. I've found if you're getting crackle it's because someplace between windows and devices the bit rates are different. Something as simple as a windows update can even upset this. So one setting will be at 48000hz and another will be at 44100hz. Pain in the butt to find some of these settings, but a good place to start is in the sound > playback/recording > advanced settings. And of course whatever software or hardware device settings as well. Goodluck 😜

As soon as you gave your son recognition I had to hit the like. I raised 2 sons by myself as a Dad. We spent lots of time learning and figuring out video games and I cherish the memories. I was raised on D&D so video games open up a lot more for the imagination for kids. There needs to be limits just like everything else but I think it's important for a parent to be into some of the same things your kids are. When you play with your kids it opens them up to having conversations that would never be possible without this 1 on 1 or family time. Video games aren't bad but parents who give their kids video games to basically be a baby sitter are not good.

For me, the thing I learned from the wiki which really improved my quality of life is simply this: Mobs have set spawn locations, and they won't respawn if you build something within 300m of their spawn. Given that there's a top-predator roughly every 50 yards in this world, if you're scouting out to say, a new resource node, you don't just want to go there and come back later with stuff based on what you saw. You want to sprinkle objects (e.g. power lines) as you go so that you don't have to re-kill 90 mobs.

I've been playing it the way you describe here, learning naturally and only trying to answer specific questions when I get stuck. The fun is in working through the game like a series of puzzles. Yeah, it gets messy and looks ugly, because you don't know what you don't know, but that's part of the process. Nice video. It's cool to see other peoples creations. A chainsaw with bio fuel is the first thing you should focus on. Always carry it. When you start exploring you can easily get stuck in trees and vegetation. Once that happens, you'll either reset to your last save or pull out the chainsaw and your free. Worst case, you get stuck and it saves. Your 'hub' station is crazy. But why did you make only the storage area permanent and a modular area attached? Why not have permanent production of all items? It kinda seem like a waste of time always changing feed lines and production. I like some of your tips. So here's a couple I use. If you want better frame rate. You can adjust your video settings down. Like shade, texture... Also that large stack of belts don't help. Your gpu has to process every item and movement. It would be a good idea to surround it with walls and remove a section or two where needed input/output. That way it's there but not there. Removing all vegetation aroumd your "base" helps too. It renders less. Side note - I have a couple short vids that you might get an idea or two from. And dude, Keep building and inspiring. It's a great game for all. Helps the mind problem solve.

@lainverse

Well, the game changed a bit since this video were recorded, but I'd like to point out a few things that are still applicable: 1. Huge sky-scraper pass-through stacks of storage boxes is a bad idea. It's a great idea to place ONE container for whatever you need to pick manually for building things, but any more of that is a waste of space since you never ever use entire container of stuff at once in any building project unless you actually want to cover entire planet in concrete and do it as fast as possible. Even then it's easier to setup large and fast production line to fill up the box faster than you use it. Anything that doesn't fit into a single box should either back up and stop or go into a sink. When you need something in a production you don't wan to re-route resources from the container. It only adds to the art of spaghet. Just feed the system directly from the main supply. At least in case you mismatch supply with demand your production won't suck your resources from storage, so you won't end up without resources when you'll actually need them. And yes, producing basic stuff in place usually better than bringing it from the other side of the map. Especially screws and wires. In some case even Mk5 belt isn't enough to bring that stuff fast enough, so it's simpler to produce it in exact amounts wherever you need that. 2. It's a good idea to learn to quick-swap equipped stuff (at least for now, update 6 finally brings multiple body slots). Helps a lot when you want to jet on a platform with poisonous cloud or fall off a cliff/platform with Blade Runners equipped. Or a gas mask. Did that quite a few times on purpose. 3. It's actually worth hiding production lines behind the walls. Not only you can make it looks like an actual building, but it helps maintaining the FPS.

@@knightmer3645 the need to hold the button all the time (or get a weight and put it down on your keyboard :-) was the only method in an older version. depending on the computer, keyboard, keyboard driver etc, i heard different versions of this, eg i need to give space a very short tap to toggle crafting, and can hold it to work like in the old version (needing to hold it).

Note that you can use the paint cans as fuel for vehicles, and they are more efficient than solid biofuel

i saved all flowers to later make paint from them for coloring walls, in some older versions of the game. but also in the newest version, you still need paint to paint the icons on platforms, including street markings, numbers, etc. since you easily can get tons of biomass from plants and trees (especially after getting the chainsaw), why waste flowers/paint as fuel ?

This is a great starting point for newcomers. I’m fairly new to this game, and my first experience was getting killed before I built my hub, so I spent half an hour respawning in random places, looking for my body loot box 😆.

DUDE! I love that your kid likes this game, and that you guys share that together! My taste in games is so far from my kids. We rarely get to game together with any amount of fun. Quick tip for the audio issue you run into when recording while playing: get a stand alone capture card. They plug in-line with the HDMI going to your monitor.

I feel you. We are not always aligned in what we want or even the time to do it if we both want the same thing so I try to make extra effort when the stars align to take advantage of them as much as possible. In this case I was in-between games and he came to me with this cool engineering game he wanted me to play with him. So I bought us both copies and It worked out well. There have been hundreds of times I've been like "lets play Terraria together? Nah Dad, I don't feel like playing that game again" or "Dad lets play Jailbreak/Bedwars (roblox) together! Nah, I dont want to play roblox" Right now we are doing Overwatch 2 and having fun so riding that train together as long as the tracks go.

So, I paused and looked at your "bus" system. Can you answer ... your conveyor is charting along at 60 items per minute but you only need 10 per minute for a production. How do you limit only 10 per minute off your "bus" and let the rest go by? Haven't figured out yet. When you split a conveyor equal 'per minute' goes to each of the splits so it makes it difficult to route what you need in the correct quantity. Great tips by the way!!!!

To help you grow your channel, check out Garry Tan - he's a startup founder & investor but his other talents involve design - he grew his YT channel super fast - one lesson I took is how much more important audio is vs video quality - obviously you've probably fixed it but if I were in your shoes, GT is someone I would want to be told about.

some people did that ... either glitch yourself through a mountainside, or build a path or train track down in some abyss until you are under the map :-) with the clipping methods of update 5 (and also before that, but maybe a bit more difficult) it is "easy" to build connections/belts/etc from below the ground to overground, and even drones cann pass through any terrain over them.

Great video! As a beginning player (less than 20 hours of gameplay so far), the first ticket purchase I made was the little FicSyt cart. One thing I discovered is that when you’re in the cart, the animals that normally attack will ignore you completely. So it’s good for getting past areas where there are two or more in close proximity. But use caution while driving because it CAN tip over on it’s side, in which case you’re stuck until it self-rights itself after about 3 or 4 minutes.
