A true Bengali person who love his motherland, who respect his language bangla. And his stories for kids are not only loved by kids but also the adults too. I love his stories and movies .Though some times it bounces from my head. But then again I use to catch the things repeatedly reading the stories, or in case of movie need to meditate.

But he disrespected Hinduism.
@hridayeshwar_hari_9100
3 ай бұрын
@@International-indic. No he didn't. He showed religious dogmatism done in the name of Hinduism, which actually bears no place in such a profound religion. He rather showed what is truly Hinduism and what's not. There were many heinous practises like Kulin Brahmin pratha of marriage, marrying off one's daughter with a banyan tree as she's Mangalik, Devdasi pratha, Sati pratha, etc. in India in early times, which were actually not present in the Hindu scriptures the way it were represented by those dogmatic Pundits to preserve their authority in the society. And if a person, being a Hindu criticise that, is that wrong? Our judging skills should be backed by just will so that we can be able to judge what's right or wrong.

As a person who read Feluda only after reaching adulthood, I wish I had read those stories as a child. By reading them only as an adult, I lost something great. But no matter, if I ever have children, I will make sure they read Ray. Heck, I while try to motivate as many children I can to read Feluda

@@International-indic. The context here's cinema, not food. You're comparing "chalk and cheese". Unlike today's cinema with power packed VFX, item songs and effects which usually fail to leave a strong impact in people as much, his cinema bore the naturalistic part of human emotions, nature, revolving around a strong organised plot with appeasing creativity, whatever genre may it be. His directing skills beautifully spoke about what the film's message is.

This is what is called a visionary. Directors like Satyajit Ray were ahead of time not because they knew how to make films but aldo because they understood the nuances of collective mind of the audience and the nation. Whereas most director's of today's era are shallow in such aspects which is why we dont get to see much content of depth nowadays.

The "Alien"/"ET" thing brings to mind, how this man could have so easily created an awesome international blockbuster that would have brought the theaters down and won Oscars left and right. He was much more than art-house masterpieces. He understood and played with Western culture more than anybody else in India, and would have been easily understood by Western audiences. In Bengali, he wrote children's books and made children's movies that retain their mass appeal to this day. Hollywood was not so open and there were no Ang Lees back in those days.
