Five part harmony. I've heard a lot of it over many years, but the five particular, unique voices of Home Free blend and complement so, so perfectly. No other combo can touch it. Thanks, Saucey.

Hi Dot. I found quite a good one, on Heidi Rancour's channel, in Bayfield WI 09/01/16. All the guys seem to be in good voice but particularly Austin. For another magic moment, there's a few seconds in "Fishing in the Dark" where only Austin and Chance are singing - gorgeous mix.

The HF "Wall of sound" when Adam makes the 5-part harmony is always spine-tingling. At its best here and in "Brothers in Arms", where it becomes a great explosion of harmonies going in all directions. I think this one is typical of the greater range of material and greater sophistication that Chance has brought to the band, although it's great to see him goofing off with the best! And his voice ... almost impossible to describe. You can keep your show-off basses, give me a smooth soulful baritone like Chance. Glad you found this one, one of most people's favourites, and a real work of art.
@whyme7996

I still like a bass except when they drop low to show off when it harms the song...happens quite a few times. But, I love a smooth baritone and a nice tenor. I can live without the high tenors for the most part, I just like them as an exclamation point in a song instead of the lead
@maloxi1472
2 жыл бұрын
He might have this effect on you because he's actually a bass-baritone. In any typical acapella group, Chance would've been the bass but there had to be someone like Tim 😄 Home Free is one of those rare groups where the "baritone" can take over the bassline all the way down to the upper 1st octave if need be and those groups tend to have a very rich, very unmistakable sound 😊

Rob and Chance singing the exact same note perfectly in union on the second line always impresses. Just like Avi leaving PTX, Chance had to leave his old group where he was pigeon holed as the bass in order to grow as an artist. To be fair, Chance was able to use his creative instincts with SCS as the director of their videos but in HF he has grown so much.

I love that Home Free doesn’t do insane vocal gymnastics just because they can. Their arrangement always fits the particular song. We all know they are each capable of crazy runs and fantastic highs and lows, but they only use them when it’s called for. Don’t get me wrong, I love them in all their incarnations, and thoroughly enjoy it when they choose to show off these incredible talents. I’m just happy they shine sometimes by being subtle and understated also! The 5-part harmonies are my favorites. I’m in my 60’s and always loved CS & N’s original version. I was trying to stay of KZitem today, but as I plugged in my phone before bed, this notification popped up. That was that! I knew this one was going to burn into your brain! I also agree about the tasteful placement of the bass parts. We all love great bass drops! And we know Tim can bomb us with them. But Home Free doesn't feel the need to use them in every song, or put them in places that aren't natural. The same goes for when they do a cover of a song. They have an innate understanding of which songs should stay close to the original with just a twist of their own flavor added. And those that they can mold into something entirely new! That's why I may enjoy some of the other a capella groups, I'm not taking away from their talent in any way, but my favorite is Home Free. Their style is much more appealing overall! Keep up the awesome work! You're doing a great job, such a natural! ❤
