I am a former recovered Kinvara fan boy. Loved how the shoe promoted natural movement, ground contact and enough flexibility and cushion for a smooth roll. Had to move on when similar shoes moved into the picture with modern midsoles like the Scetchers Razor, Altra Escalante and the Puma Volocity which I hadn't tried yet. Would like to try the Kinvara out with Pebax or a nitro infused midsole. For me as a forefoot striker, the Mach has to much of a rocker and to much cushion to be able to fire up those foot muscles immediately thru toe off. Plus it makes my knees bend less.

Have Kinvara 12 and Mach 4 and prefer the Kinvara by a lot. I feel like the higher stack height makes my legs work harder and combine that with the cushion and it’s pretty strange.

Call me traditional, but I much prefer the feel of the more natural feel of the Kinvara 12s (which should be very similar to the 13s) underfoot without too much bounce that's coming with the newer Pebax and nitro infused midsoles.

Yes ive got both these shoes and i find them quite different. The Mach 4 is more versatile and softer and i do use them a lot for long runs. The Kinvara feels quite firm and i only use them for faster runs. Very enjoyable comparison review as usual from the Doctors of Running hope you are all fit and well.

Be good if you guys could cover grip in your reviews. I had a really bad experience with the outsole of a Brooks shoe (which they finally admitted needed sorting) so given grip can be a safety issue and important when wanting to push the pace it would be good to have it mentioned. Thanks for the content 👍🏻

The Mach 4 has too much of a narrow forefoot for me. I recently discovered the Glycerin 18 and I love that DNA Loft midsole because it reminds me of the Escalante v1. Too bad it's not zero drop, though.

How long a run can you realistically do in the Machs? Could you actually run a marathon in them?

A bit unfair on hoka to compare it with the kinvara. The hoka has a much more interesting midsole, nobody wants to run on that boring PWRRUN midsole, saucony needs to get on the nitro foam bandwagon!

@@DoctorsofRunning yes, just a tad heavy. It's frustrating that Saucony only have good foam in the speed and pro. Even brands like puma and skechers are putting good foams in relatively cheap shoes. Saucony are obviously capable though with hits like the speed, will be interesting to hear what you guys think about the speed 3 and tempus when you get your hands on them.
