Recently bought the 21’s as a do it all shoe (as I don’t have the budget to have a show rotation) based upon your previous recommendations. I’m a heavier runner and so far so good, and glad I saved my money vs investing more for the 22.

Im 84 kgs and what you are saying about the midsole feeling flat is what exactly i thought about the 20 and 21 . Imo the 20 is far more reapoy, bouncy, versatile conpared to the 21 .

I tried out the Triumph 20 and it gave my feet problems. I have flat feet and need a stable shoe. The Triumph 20 was not stable for me, and cause pain on the outside of my feet and eventually some lower leg issues. The midsole felt great and I was fast in them, but you can't run if your injured. I am in the Asics Nimbus 26 now, not quite as fast, but still they roll through nicely for me and they are very stable. For reference I'm 5'8" 175 and pretty muscular, 5k time is 25 minutes, my normal training pace is around 9:30-10 per mile.

I'm actually happy the 22 is more of a easy day shoe, and thats what i use it for and love it. I have other shoes for anything faster.

which begs the question why anything versatile is immediately approved? If it is a rotation, why not each shoe be the best at whatever it is supposed to do? Is best at being versatile a scheduelled aspect of training? I don't get it.
@Frichilsasta08

@yoavmiller216 yeah...even the running testers say the 20 and 21 are versatile but they would never really use it for tempo or faster efforts...so then what's the point of calling it versatile

@@Frichilsasta08Most recreational runners have at most a 2 shoe rotation. Easy/Daily Trainer and Speed/Race shoe. Versatility is important for recreational runners or those on a budget. They used to identify that distinction more frequently but I think it got repetitive so they've kinda dropped it.

Great review, I think the new Horican 24 which is the same weight.. as the Triumph 22 could be a better option. It's also lower drop..

My 21s have another 400km or so left in them I reckon but after around 450km the insoles have compressed so much that I'm starting to get foot pain. Swapped them out with some insoles from my Peregrines and they feel like a new shoe. I wish Saucony would sell replacement PB+ Insoles but I guess they would rather you buy more shoes.
@richardharvey4216
4 ай бұрын
The insoles are supposed to be the same material as the midsole so in theory should retain their cushioning properties and not need to be replaced. But that’s not to say other parts of the shoe will not break down which may be causing the issues you are having
@mikebonsall2449
4 ай бұрын
That may be the theory but in reality comparing the thickness of the saucony insole with 450km of use with another of only 100km and the difference in thickness (particularly the mid-foot area) is significant. Running with the fresher insole and I experience no pain whatsoever. No doubt the midsole in the shoe itself is also compressing over time but it's clearly a much thicker piece of foam compared to the relatively thin midsole.

the triumph 21 never lasted more than 400km for me before i noticed injuries starting to be a possibility, i just accepted it and replaced them all at 400km [which is like, every 1.5 months for me]

I usually like a lighter daily trainer (using the Mach 6 atm) however I’m nursing a few niggles and annoying injuries at the moment and looking for something max cushioned and more protective. Would you recommend Triumph 21 or Gel-Nimbus 26? I’ve found both on sale for around £100.

How do you find the PWRRUN PB foam in the Tempus compared to the Triumph and the Endorphin Speed/Pro? I was thinking of picking up a pair (Tempus) when it goes on sale but now I'm not so sure.

Is T21 anywhere near to Asics Glideride? GR was about to log miles but it was far better at picking up the pace. It was even asking me to healstrike 😅 In such case will any of the Triumphs replace it well? Or should I check some other shoe?
@Minionthesecond

I am not a fast runner but I think the trend to make daily trainer wider, bulkier and wider is not really in my preference. It happened in Novablast 4 which I think it 's not a good move. and now on the Triumph 22 again. I think the Triumph 21 has the right (may be perfect) amount of mid sole, softness, weight and wideness for a very decent daily trainer. why change?
@richardharvey4216

These guys make it seem like the T22 is like wearing huge boulders on your feet. For 95% of runners it won’t make any difference. The T22 feel ok on foot and are a decent shoe. If you want something similar to the T21 and want to stay with Saucony then you are looking at the Ride 17.

Maybe the Ride 17. It uses the Power Run Plus midsole same as the older Triumph and comes with a 8mm drop.

@@Ryan_Tinney The difference is 2mm less cushion in the Ride 17's heel hence 2mm less drop but a few grams heavier.

Is the Gel-Nimbus 26 or the Nike's Infinity Run 4 more nimble them this Triumph 22 ? Thanks.
@LuisRamos-qw1gj

I don't know if the Infinity 4 is nimble or not. I only use them for casual! For easy runs i use the invincible's 3. But if you want the Infinity 4, try the Nike factory - 57,5€(full retail price 169,99€).

It seems to me that the Triumph 22 may be where the Shift 4 was headed? Maybe?
@smagic614
4 ай бұрын
You could be onto something. Given the Shift 3's abysmal sales record, I assume they didn't want to flog a dead horse (by naming it Shift 4) and tried to capitalize on the Triumph's previous successes. Triumph 22 should have been a dual foam setup, maybe slightly wider than T21, although Saucony shoes are already wide enough, with PWRRUNPB more pronounced in the fore-mid-foot area and having a taller stack of PWRRUN+ in the heel. It wouldn't necessary be more lighter, but it would give them enough differentiation from the Ride and Endorphin series.

Surely your body type dictates hugely which shoe is best for you? What works for someone with a leaner physique probably wont work for someone who is heavier set. At the extreme ends Jonah Lomu vs Usain Bolt would probably wear totally different shoes for daily training. Im kind of giving up on these comparison reviews. They do make compelling viewing though!
