Nice work. One of the basic rules conserning measurements in sauna is that your toes have to be at the same level or upper as woodstove's top level/stones.

@Fisticuffs Guilde Air is usually much cooler below the stone level. It's nice to have warm air also for feet.

Your video helped me a lot. Your right there is not a lot of info on wood stove installation. Thanks Jesse.

That's great to hear Rick! glad it was helpful. Sometimes it just makes all the difference to actually see some of that details rather than read about them.. cheers

very nice build. I like the simplicity of your design which is what I'm going for as well. can I ask what you did for The floor? what it's made of? I just started framing mine on an existing concrete slab and debating if I should leave it concrete, tile it, or just use one of those rubber mats with holes for water to drain

Do you have a video of you using the wood stove? I'm curious to know how much steam is put out when you put water over the stones. Can you make a video like that? Highly interested in building my own!

no I don't, and that sounds like too much work! haha. I can tell you that I usually use the sauna dry for about 10 minutes, and then just put a little water on the stones every 5-10 minutes. you feel the steam and heat. so its there. but I dont want or need too much water going on the stove. too much rust.

Hey bud what's the highest temperature you have had in it?
@TheSteelheadangler
4 жыл бұрын
I dont have a thermometer in there, I just get it hot and use the window and cracked door to control temp. It is more heat than needed, but manages well with airflow
@Superflow25

Very nice! How hot does it get and how long does it take to get up to that temperature?
@TheSteelheadangler
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryan. It takes about 30-40 minutes to get it hot, and a load of wood in the stove is usually enough for a 30-45min sauna. It get's hot enough that the window and door get opened, which I prefer as you get the cold air mixing in with the hot

Hi Jesse, I noticed you have a window in there, is it a vinyl frame? Have you experienced any cracking or problems with it?
@TheSteelheadangler
6 жыл бұрын
HI Stephen, there has been no cracking, but I have notices some warping with the window.. on the bottom. nothing crazy but enough to make me realize it should have been wood.

Great job....what was the total cost?
@TheSteelheadangler
7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Martin. Total cost was around $1200 Canadian all said and done. Most expensive part was the cedar ($400 for the cheap stuff) and the chimney pipe and ceiling kit ($400). Learned a lot building it too so that makes it worth it. We use it almost every week from Sept to May and any time friends are up. Cheaper than the kits and Barrel Saunas that I have seen which go for around $4000.
