I feel like we’re so addicted to criticizing this show for every little detail, while systematically avoiding praise in any way, that we are in fact not giving enough praise to the stellar performance Vickers is giving as Sauron. He manages to feel cruel, seductive, tragic, majestic, all at the same time. It was NOT easy to approach such a larger than life icon of evil and play it convincingly, while at the same time giving it just the right touch of humanity and personality.

Celebrimbore is not actually dead yet. If you pay attention on Sauron's words before stabbing Celebrimbore with a spear, you will realise that Sauron wanted to keep Celebrimbore alive by his mastery of crafts and just then you can notice that Sauron mixed his own blood on the spear by sliding his finger on its sharp edge before stabbing Celebrimbore with the same spear not just to kill him but to transform him into something beyond death using his black blood which has capacity to recover after death as we have seen in episode 1 of season 2 of the rings of power. I just noticed, how Sauron's facial features began to twitch violently, as soon as Celebrimbor said "One alone". In the legendarium, at this point he already planned to craft the One Master Ring, so when Celebrimbor said "I foresee, that one alone shall prove your UTTER. RUIN!", he had a strong feeling, that this was prophecy, which explains, why he reacts so violently. Bad people with flawed characters ALWAYS hate prophecies, that are to their disadvantage and ESPECIALLY the Prophet foretelling them (like Agamemnon hating on Klakhas and what he had to say in the Iliad). Sauron also intended to call himself "Lord of the Rings", as soon as he had the One Ring crafted. So when Celebrimbor foretold his doom brought by his One Ring plan and confirming it, by calling him by his intended title, he just knew, that he had already set things in motion, that would lead to his downfall. That's the reason, why he cried, because like his master Melkor, Sauron knew some things intimately, among those hatred, fear and despair . And at this point, when he knew, that he would certainly be ruined, he started to cry in fear for his future and despair for his fate. There are things, that are rightfully criticized about this show (like the Stranger being Olorin instead one of the Blue Wizards, I mean, c'mon, that makes NO sense, or the dwarf-women being practically beardless, cuz the showrunners seem to be too sexist, to give them beards), but moments like these are just AWESOME! :D

When he amputated his own fingers, Celebrimbor, Lord of Eregion did not cry out. When his flesh rent by orc-arrows uncounted, the Last of the House of Feanor did not beg for relief. When Gorthaur the Cruel impaled his broken body and held it aloft, the Greatest of Elven Smiths lived up to his Grandfathers spirit and shared his knowledge of The Deciever's Final Doom... and did not scream. Celebrimbor, Lord or Eregion, showed his quality, proved his mettle, and met his Grandfather in the Halls of Mandos, and knew no shame in his mighty company. "Namarie Mellon"

Is Annatar really Sauron in the flesh thinking his thoughts, or is he like an avatar of Sauron that is enacting his will? As in Sauron is so incomprehensible, a being without a physical body that exists in some higher dimension, that it's impossible for him (or "it") to be in a small body in one place speaking directly to you.

Sauron won but why is he crying?
@shiddygaymer
14 күн бұрын
i read that the crying wasnt in the script but they liked it and kept it anyway. it's an interesting depiction showing that deep down sauron regrets that it "had" to come to this. there does seem to be some legitimate reverie that sauron has for celebrimbor's craft. from sauron's pov in that moment he is probably thinking "why couldnt you just do what i asked".

The actor for Sauron, Charlie Vickers, actually cried because he was sad his time with celebrimbor's actor Charles Edwards was ending, and so they kept his real tears in for the scene and story.

Sauron was born a Maia of Aule and before being corrupted by Morgoth he was a spirit of crafting and creation. Celebrimbor is likely the most skilled crafter and smith since the times of Feanor and that part of Sauron probably mourns his loss in a very small but genuine way.

Idk charlie vickers sucks compared to the original LOTR cast. Either Peter and his team would have never of cast him or if they did, they would have got a lot more character out of him. Just observe the way he says "melon" like its simply a word. He should have put so much more character and emotion behind it. So yeah the director and actor is at fault here. At least it's not a total catastrophe because he does a passable job by today's standards (because they are so damn low), but there is a massive amount to be desired.

Instead of doing Rings of Power, they should have gone of the games of Shadow of Mordor & Shadow of War. Even though it’s not exactly lore accurate the story line still ties in with the films and the versions of Saoron and Celebrimbor are MUCH MORE interesting
@nickcozzie6614
13 күн бұрын
It is lore accurate people have broken it down. The only inaccuracy’s it has is naming the nazghul. Literally everything else that happens in the games could have happened. It’s set during the 60-80 year dark period after the hobbit when almost nothing was written about it so it does fit quite well honestly. It’s why I love those games so much. Talion is also such a believable character.
