I like the idea of this, i would cook the bacon first, and use sausage meat instead of hotdogs, with the hotdogs, you could add fried onions cheese the same sauce but all in a wrap of your choice as today there's several types of wrap as well as size

We call that a Sausage Roll in Britain and its one of our national dishes, its the most popular item from a bakery. Sadly the crap you get in supermarkets is terrible however make them yourself and the verity is limitless. I like them made with apple sauce or the cranberry ones we get at Christmas. Cheese is ok but its better to use real cheese not the crap this chef has used which is not really cheese; cheddar works but so does sliced Emmental or even gruyere. I made them with Shropshire blue one year and the 50 I made disappeared in 2 days so I was forced to make some more. One thing I would do is remove the skin from the sausage or even use sausage meat. The skins on modern store bought sausages are not intestines they are artificial and often become really difficult to chew. Another trick to add extra flavour is to spread some English Mustard on the sausage not much just a skim, it adds a tang to the final product.

They’re called puffy dogs in Australia. Sausage rolls here are made with minced pork, beef, and/or lamb or a combination of them. My wife makes beef and pork sausage rolls and they are amazing! I don’t care for the store bought ones though.

@@paulredinger5830 I just had an idea. Cut pork sausages and beef sausages in half then make a full sausage with one half of each then wrap in puff pasty and cook. A pork and beef sausge roll. My partner is originally a north african. last year I took some of her Merguez (spicy lamb sausages) and made rolls with them, the first batch were terrible as the oils in the sausage made the pastry soggy so the second batch I cooked the sausage half way to leech the oil out then made them as normal with some harrisa, they flew off the counter and my sister-in-law the best cook in our lives nicked the recipe, thats a real recomendation.

I grew up in Brighton Michigan. I live in Australia now. Married an Australian girl. Haven’t been home in nearly 20 years. I miss family, white Christmas’s, fall hunting and fall salmon drinking er, I mean salmon fishing.

This looks lovely but would 20mins be long enough to cook the bacon especially when it's also wrapped around parts of itself? I noticed the sausage is an already made hot dog type so you are really just heating this up.

My reaction too. Unrendered bacon fat . . .

European bacon is made from the loin of a pig, with only a thin strip of fat on the top, and is much leaner than American bacon, and cooks much faster.

Surely a real French chef would be horrified at the use of plastic cheese like that? Let alone the use of hot dog style sausages... Not that I wouldn't devour these

I made these the other night and they were amazing! The only thing I did different was I used bbq sauce, and I wrapped the hotdogs in pruscheto. Sorry I don’t know how to spell prosciutto, and I’m too lazy to look it up.

no French Chefs recipe would actually include a hot dog or ... gag ... processed junk cheese. Swap that out with a real hand piped sausage mix and then it would make more sense.

Its a British staple and its called a Sausage Roll, the Spanish probably got it from us. I have been visiting Spain since 1973 and the only time I started to see these was well after the Brits took up residency.
