Savage Axis 2 VS Stevens 334: which is the Best Budget Bolt Action?
There's a new kid on the block potentially taking the podium from the Axis for the best budget bolt action rifle. Who? well obviously its in the title and in the thumbnail ... The Steven 334.
but what makes the Stevens so dam good? well the most important thing for any rifle is going to be accuracy and reliability and this new rifle crushes both of those points with the super accurate barrels and super strong ejector.
now the Savage was know for being an accurate rifle and a fairly reliable rifle, but it has been observes with the occasional failure to eject, being one of its downsides that couples with a smooth but clunky 90 degree action leave some to be desired. The Sevens 334 addresses almost all of those complaints with a 1 piece bolt design a 60 degree bolth throw.
now keep in mind the Stevens certainly isnt perfect, but it woudnt take much to make it that way.
Also just a FYI the Stevens 334 is a rebranded ATA arms Turqua, in short Stevens contracted them to manufacture under the Stevens name, this doesnt happen all that often in the rifle world, but I think this was a great decision for Stevens.
now another rather interesting point to note is that Savage may have just created its replacement because Steven/ Savage are both owned by the same company.....
