@@LiselleSambury absolutely! I love Save the Cat but sometimes it's hard to conceptualize and think about HOW to come up with these things! It definitely seems to take practice so it's awesome that you're sharing your experience!

First off LOVE blood like magic and blood like fate! Second off, really liked hearing your thoughts on this, I just read save the cat writes a novel and really enjoyed it but I think its nice hearing other peoples thoughts on it is nice since I am new to long form writing and everything feels very daunting compared to the short stories I'm used to writing. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Thank you so much!!! 🥹💜 and I can totally understand that. It can be a bit of a transition with writing long form and so it can be nice to have the structure. And I also like hearing other people’s thoughts on a structure/how they use it because even if we’re all using STC, we can come out with really different executions of it

Yay I love this video series idea. I recently read the Blake Snyder one, but didn’t love the narrative voice of it 😅 that’s so cool there’s one for novel-writing though!! And it was super interesting to hear your break down of this “beat.” And the “starting in the right place” part was super helpful!! 💛

What about if you're writing say a thriller and your first chapter is that typical teaser with the killer. Do you still include a snapshot with your protagonist after the teaser? Or before? Or something else.
@LiselleSambury

I just consider that a prologue that’s separate from the rest of the novel. And then the first chapter is the opening image and I proceed from there.
