On March 22, 2023, leaders in policy, conservation and outdoor recreation came together for Hope and Restoration: An Evening for Whitebark Pine, a pivotal event hosted by the Ricketts Conservation Foundation and American Forests to recognize whitebark pine, an iconic conifer that was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in December 2022.
The short, powerful documentary “Hope and Restoration - Saving the Whitebark Pine” premiered during the event. The film tells the story of whitebark pine and the people and organizations working to restore the declining species.
Speakers and panelists, including Bureau of Land Management Director Tracy Stone-Manning and famed alpinist Conrad Anker, stressed the need to save whitebark pine by growing disease-resistant seedlings and planting them at a scale like never before.
Ongoing support is needed to conserve the whitebark pine. Visit www.SavetheWhitebarkPine.org to learn more.
