The two spurge items for me are 1. We always have a good car. I do not scrimp on a car. ( I do not want to be stranded in 111 degree heat) 2. I did not scrimp on activities my daughter wanted to do: all of her dance classes, music lessons, travels, etc.

Definitely bras and dress/gym shoes. I also do the same for coats, bc you use them year after year. OMG I am totally with you on bras. If you're above a D cup it truly is not optional to pay bottom dollar- you really end up feeling it in your back. Another one I splurge on is independent companies for both make up and nail polish. Especially with nail polish though, since I notice that small batch nail polishes chip wayyy less than drug store polish.

I've been wearing Brooks GTS as my running shoes for over a decade. I also like all of the shoes brands you mentioned. My secret favorite splurge for pumps is Cole Haan. Their Nike Air pumps are ah-mazing. I have spent hours walking in those shoes with zero issues. I hit up their clearance section in the outlets to get them at decent prices. They are my favorite shoes by far and I have a few pairs that I've owned for 10 years now (and had to have resoled).--Tasha

I agree massively about shoes. Shoes really changed my perspective on buying expensive things. I used to always be someone who would buy the cheapest anything, because I saw it as the best value. But I had some ankle issues and my doctor recommended I start buying shoes that supported my ankles, which meant expensive $200+ shoes instead of the more cheap $50 shoes I had been buying. First they were more comfortable and offered a lot more support for my ankles. BUT I also discovered they would last a lot longer than the cheap shoes I had been buying. They would last 3-4 years instead of the 6months the cheaper shoes would last. It really changed my outlook on things in regards to quality. I still do not care about buying something where the only thing going for it is a brand-name (will still not touch Apple Products with a 10 foot pole), but I do look for quality when buying things now as they tend to be better value overall.

The other thing that is completely worth the cost is a small solar panel. It's foldable and charges my iPhone. I bought a battery for it, and the battery can charge my phone twice when it's full. Huge on tools, shoes, and skill items (classes, books, and study material). I don't spend on extra though. Like I didn't spend money on a study course for a professional exam, but I bought the materials I thought I needed ($500 book). I also don't buy tools unless I can't get by without doing it and need that particular tool. Bras I can agree with (from a guy's perspective). Jeans I get as cheap as comfortable (max $30) since they get ruined quick regardless of quality.
@OneBigHappyLife

Joseph's eyes look extra blue in this video, I'm not sure why, maybe the shirt? Lol. I splurge on good dark chocolate and good desserts in general. If I want something, it Should be worth the calories. I splurge on buying more than one seat in public transportation to save time. I live in the Caribbean so taxis require a full car to leave the stand. I do need to track my transportation expenses though to make sure I'm not going overboard. I should have splurged on a laptop. I bought a refurbished one three years ago and now the battery is kaput. Looking into the most cost-effective way to buy one. Oh and I splurge on eyebrow waxing. I have a really good aesthetician who I trust and would rather pay for reliability than a cheap, unpredictable outcome.

Spending more for something doesn't mean borrowing for it. But it could actually be cheaper in the long run to buy a more expensive item with the difference between the cheap and the quality item being borrowed than it would be to buy a cheap item only to have to replace it soon.
