Just went through it got divorced after 22 years from a narcissist I’m a female and an empath. So much healing I’ve been through in three years, so much!! I didn’t even know what a narcissist was but I sure do now. I’m 62 years old and I never had a good relationship they were mean men. He did something really bad and he ended up getting three years in jail two of which he has served already. I divorced him within two months of what he did! I was in shock and horrified but I am now Robbi rising!

Super easy, don't allow people to cross HEALTHY PERSONAL BOUNDARIES. The second you attempt to hold a healthy personal boundary with one of these people, they will pitch a fit about how wrong YOU ARE for doing so. And there's you're red flag to get away from them, because they have no respect for your boundaries.

I ve lived my whole life trying to be loved and accepted..living in a narcissistic family..ignored and shamed, disliked , abused.. How sad..ended up living with my children's dad's that projected so many cruelness onto me.. I have 3 beautiful children and unfortunately they have been affected so much.. Recently met someone else that played games on me and I cycled right back into the pleasing and self loathing phase..I need this book ! Great video to both of you, just brilliant

Fantastic guest and a great conversation. I really needed to hear this. I struggle with a tremendous amount of anger and have liver problems as a result of stuffing down my pain with alcohol for decades. I h ave PTSD, as well. My father is an undiagnosed narcissist. My mother died from liver disease and felt death was her only escape. I had to go no contact to save my life, which is really hard, but this talk was the reassurance I needed to take care of all facets of my health, guilt- and interference-free. Narcissists don't want you to heal. They want you at your lowest point, as Christiane noted. Once you stop giving up so much of yourself, it's almost jarring to feel the contrast of that person's absence in your life (when you start to feel better and have the space to heal) versus staying trapped their negativity, which drives a lot of people to addictions, disease, poor quality of life, and early death. I don't want that to be my life story -- it was not written be me. Their suffering does not need to be something I continue to take on. Life is already challenging enough as it is. I want control of the pen. It was always my story to write. Thank you so much.

A funny thing happened to me around 48 mins when Christiane said “ I’m so disappointed in you, I thought that you - of all people… And they start shaming you….“ My chronically difficult person - who had used those exact words on me last summer, who hasn’t reached out to me in months, sent me a text 🤔. At virtually the same moment! I stood my ground in a kind and compassionate way and the text conversation ended with her sending me a disappointed face 😔 I had to laugh and think I am just the worst 🤣😂😅 The universe is definitely at work here!

He also spend and spread all my money that I worked very hard to save for years 🥲, It’s painful , but I am happy to be away form his toxic energy , Im happy that I have the spiritual level of looking at things . Thank You, Creator Most High, for dropping this across my Path. I've wondered for many, many years how to have proper boundaries with certain types of broken-vampirically-draining persons who I choose to help...show love...hopefully bring healing and hope. ( But, there have been times where I feel energy draining from me and it is hard to keep my eyes open. IMHO, it's not always the other person who is the "source" of this phenomenon, and I've challenged myself on any ways that I contributed to such lethargy, but I've been rather confused about how the other person contributes to such an experience. ) I'm gonna listen and be open to what nuggets of truth are to be found here. Grace and Truth and Peace to everyone here.

The problem is when you've figured out a person's behaviour, but still you can't detach yourself because you're kind of addicted to them. You open up to them, yet you always feel there's a wall they don't let you climb. You give yourself to them, you fall in love, but somehow you know they're just using you. You're smart enough to grasp it, but not brave enough to say it out loud and go.

Thank You! This was sooooo validating and informative. It is always nice to discover a new person with helpful insight and I just found two! One year out of an 8 year relationship with a narcissist/energy vampire and I am still working on healing, re-energizing and refilling my life with only the positive. It took some time for me to admit to myself that I basically entered that relationship with the expectation of successfully being his "fixer", but all the love in the world won't fix another person- and the toxic ones just see it as proof that their tactics have worked. We can only repair ourselves, not anyone else- well, ok, I suppose that comes from self love. Professionals can help facilitate it, but the drive to change/improve has to come from within. One odd thing about my experience was that towards the end of the relationship, I could not sleep well with him next to me. I started waking up at 4am every morning, still tired, but wide awake and ruminating over all the things. When he moved out, I had 3 nights in a row of 9-10 solid hours of sleep. It was bananas! I *think* it was my sympathetic nervous system on high alert, telling me that he was not a safe person. A far cry from autoimmune diseases, but perhaps not really so far...? Loving scanning through the comments, too. It is uplifting to know that not only are none of us alone in this journey, but also to see that so many people have come out on the other side of the tunnel and are thriving. 🌈✨🐇

To ANY ONE who is now doubting yourself because of this video!!!! …you have spent years trying to recover your own identity, yourself, your life from one or more relationships… me too. I just went from listening with appreciation to TOTAL SELF DOUBT, self-defeat AND SELF DEPRECATION. See, this is the thing. She just sent me into well maybe it IS ME, self-blaming cycle. This is not true. A. Remember, rule one. You are not a narcissist of you are really worried that you are and blaming yourself. This is a very hard thought loop to escape and is part of what has kept you in this painful, toxic cycle. I don’t have time for my other insights. So, let me just remind you, one more time. If you just found yourself, about 1/4 of the way into this video feeling all the pain of self-blame and hurt. You are not alone. And it is not your fault and you are not the one who stole your life from you. (Ya we could dive into soul contracts and all that. But first you need to be an a healer place. Feel safe with in.)

A lot of good info here but let me say that the word “guilt” should have been properly defined. Guilt is doing something illegal or immoral. It should never be used for the “feeling” we have when we create a boundary or eliminate communication with a problem person. Also, at 50:20, this degraded terribly into a bunch of hocus pocus and chanting garbage. It almost devalued everything I’d heard before that. That kind of ritualistic garbage is exactly what will put a person backwards in healing. They’re gonna do all that and nothing will change and when nothing does, they’ll think they’re “doing it wrong” or some other self blaming. It’s a false hope. The only way to rise above and leave behind narcissistic abuse is to drop your hate and anger and forgive. People love to hold onto the anger because they think it punishes the narcissist. It doesn’t. The narcissist doesn’t care. It only keeps you in a loop. The biggest thing to remember is that narcs are extremely damaged people. They do what they do in order to survive. They will never ever change. They can’t. They genuinely can’t help how they treat you. It’s the best they are capable of. To forgive doesn’t mean they “win”. It means you win. I did it. (It has to be face to face and expect no apology) And I can say I’m totally free. What once caused me so much pain, is now inert and ineffectual. They also know that now they have no power over me and I see through it all. It terrifies them. I’m also no longer a source of supply because I have gone grey rock and keep interactions almost nonexistent.

Hi guys- what a fantastic episode. I would like to just say, please be open minded to those who are categorised as "cluster B" personality types. Some years back I had PTSD and was diagnosed with BPD. I now don't meet the criteria. I have a stable life with 2 kids and a wonderful hubby and a wish to help others. I'm saddened that some people with BPD are likened to narcissistic personalities as we don't lack empathy. I will admit some people with BPD present very difficult when unwell and some take out their pain on others (I was a self harmer). But those with BPD can recover and often want help, unlike narcissistic personalities. I dont want to put a downer on this as this has no weight on my feelings towards both these people speaking- you guys are truly WONDERFUL. I would just like to put my point across for those who may have a perception on those cluster B personalities as I've felt I've dealt with some ongoing stigma. I would also like to add that as an overly empathetic person, I've been in past abusive relationships with those who are sociopathic and narcissistic. So those with BPD are complex people and there are a range of presentations amongst even those diagnosed. To the point where- once I recovered, a psychiatrist denied I even had BPD as I wasn't a "difficult" or dramatic person in how I lived my life. It was so confusing! I try not to put myself into a box anymore. You can have misdiagnosed PTSD present as BPD or even traits... and I think its just something to be mindful of when receiving a confusing diagnosis. Don't let the diagnosis paralyse you into non-action. Change is possible with self awareness, willingness and an open heart. Nevertheless- a wonderful video xxx

@@R1R1_4FT0N came to say the same. Sounds like it was a misdiagnosis. People don't realize the harm these lablels cause. The fact that mental health is based on 'interpretation' of the dsm scares me on its face. Beyond that, where is the healing in labeling people. Doctors should advise ways to change behavior and/or bring some clarity, not label. Jeesh.

That's the thing, people talk about the label and the diagnosis, but I don't hear enough discussions about recovery. just because you get the label doesn't mean it's permanent. Thank you sharing your recovery story!

Good to hear that it's actually healthy to feel the anger, before loving kindness.

Took me decades to learn that there is such a thing as righteous anger.... not all anger is bad and attacking..... righteous anger is defensive. x

When you have to ask, “what’s wrong with me” after talking to someone toxic, you have been attacked by a gas lighter narcissist.

@@Se-leve The sad part is that they do not realize that they're parasites, or have a higher threshold for pain and gained resilience on account of the abuse THEY'VE experienced.
