Love your concepts, Tony! I was a Kali instructor and when I would be teaching I wouldn’t teach footwork at the beginning if at all. The person would usually ask , why’ aren’t you teaching me footwork? I’d say because I’m pretty sure I could teach you all the Kali footwork from the beginning and I’m almost positive it would most likely not help you under stress because you’d use your natural instincts anyway. They would say well I wanna move like this or that, you know, like the higher level guys and I’d say I’m pretty sure under stress they’d do more of what is natural to them and it probably would look nothing like what you see when they’re doing drills. I would explain it like, I wanna see how you move first, Naturally then we can tweak a few things. Like maybe don’t cross your legs or back up on an angle instead of going straight back. Of course there’s high level fighters that do master footwork, but for the average person I think it does more harm , sometimes to load there brain up with things that they probably won’t be capable of doing under stress. I know that this is probably basic info to you, but that’s why I love your approach to surviving so much...

How many times have you seen a double axe handle strike from a full mount in BJJ or MMA? Ground and pound is more effective...
