Our performance of Carroll Dickerson's "Savoyager's Stomp," from Part 2 of my doctoral lecture recital on early jazz trombone. The tune is essentially a slower and more orchestrated contrafact of Kid Ory's "Muskrat Ramble." I'm playing Fred Robinson's solo here from the original 1928 recording. Note the 2-octave trombone plops after the solo section, which is a "Muskrat Ramble" tradition🎶
