I think the reason that it’s so mesmerizing is because each log is like “Christmas Morning”. It’s like opening a present and finding out what’s in the box.

Thank you for the video. It brings back memories as a kid and going with my dad to the lumber yard and picking out boards to build with. He built a cherry coffee table and oak dinning room table. My dad was a talented carpenter. Heck he could do anything! I sure miss my mom and dad. I also miss the time I was born and raised…50’s and 60’s…thank you sir…

I love watching Sawmill videos. Like you said about your Dad. My Daddy could do anything. And he showed me how to do what he did. Saved me a lot of money over the years. My Father in law was a drywall contractor and painter. He showed me how to do that, so that saved me money too. Bought a house, remodeled it, and built on to it. Knowing how to do the work saved me 1000s. I miss my Daddy every day. Dan 🇺🇸

Another great sawing video, Mark. Eddie with an axe? Just don't get him mad! In the old days they used a two man cross cut saw. You guys need a giant two man drawknife to remove the bark before you saw (lol). Stay safe. Bill

One advantage the circle mills have over the band mills. Dealing with knots in spruce and pine. No blade deflection in the circle mill, while the band mills have to deal with blade dive.

Hello Mark i just did a video on how the USDA says to mill a big log above the mills cap. the number of the video is 316 i think you have power enough to use there method, i do not with my little mill i watch all your videos you and john both have great mills.

"Always fighting bark". Why not debark the loose stuff before you mill? That would be 2 mi utes well spent.

I went with a 80v electric chainsaw to use around my mill. Works great, no fuel or starting. Just push a button and go.

Could a camera mount be attached to the swing arm to follow the log as it goes thru the saw? A little experimenting to get the correct angle & height & the camera aiming would take care of itself.

I’m surprised that bark didn’t all fall off before the log got on the carriage, seeing how loose it was. I know most the logs you saw have much tighter bark than this one did. It wouldn’t make economic sense to get a debarker or even spend much time spudding off loose bark if logs like this are the exception and not the norm.
