Almost all Israel tours routinely stop at a little village in the hills of Galilee called Daliyat Al-Karmel. It's home to one of the best shopping bazaars in the country, and it’s also home to a small ethnic and religious sect called the Druze. They are full Israeli citizens and serve in the Israeli army. But who are these Druze? In the course of this half-hour documentary, I interview the mayor of the largest Druze village in Israel, as well as a prominent Druze general in the Israeli army, Amal Assad. With my team, I traveled across northern Israel (Galilee) and on to Jerusalem, shooting on location and talking with many members of the Druze community, examining the challenges Israel faces as it tries to preserve its Jewish character while at the same time being a diverse and multi-ethnic society. It’s time to say hello to the Druze of Israel!
