I wish Paul and Michael had recorded more songs together. Their voices and musical styles are so similar. Unfortunately, they had a falling out not too long after they recorded this song. The Beatles didn't own the rights to any of their songs. So when the record company that owned them went under in the 1980's, the Beatles catalog was put up for auction. Paul wanted to own the songs he and his bandmates had written, and told Michael that he intended to buy them back at the auction. However, after realizing what a solid business investment it would be to own the Beatles catalog, Michael went behind Paul's back and bought the catalog right out from under him. Paul felt incredibly betrayed. Michael tried to soothe Paul by telling him it was just business. But it wasn't business. Not to Paul. Thus their friendship came to its dramatic end.
@kerryn6714
3 жыл бұрын
Paul & Yoko had first option to buy the catalogue from Robert Holmes A'Court, an Australian businessman. It was put on the open market after Paul/Yoko wouldn't go above $10M. I'm a fan of both men but Paul cried victim & MJ refused to speak badly about him publically. This is all on the public record, the Holmes A'Court family said what happened.

This was the early 80's coming right off the crazy success of MJ's "Thriller" album that everybody and their broomstick owned including me. This song was a huge hit as was their second song together "The Girl is Mine" Paul did pretty well in the early 80's teaming up with fellow superstars I think about 2 years before he teamed up with MJ he had another big winner with "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder. These songs bring back great memories for me! I was 11 years old when "Thriller" came out. Anything MJ did was a BIG deal to me. As for Paul, I knew who he was. I thought he was pretty lucky to have MJ "LET" him sing a song and do a video with him!!😉

We were pottering around outside the saloon it’s set in, taking photos and trying to get pics through the windows of the spots from the video, but it was closed as it was a public holiday. However the owner saw us, invited us in and let us have a private tour of the building telling us about the video🥰🥰🥰 I am so obsessed with this video that all of my photos are blurry cos I was so excited😂 The room they used (where Paul is shaving), still has the same wallpaper!
