Came here from Bronze to Mythic. Bloomburrow was the first set I started playing draft. I kept desiring a channel that was more podcast leaning to listen on my way to work. These takes and pointers earned y’all a sub!

I'm sorry you guys had such a miserable time with BLB. As someone that started drafting a few months ago, this was by far my favorite set of the year thanks to it's straightforward nature. It felt great to be able to make picks without being stumped by walls of text on almost every card (looking at you MKM).

18:11 there’s one other 1-mana offspring card: Darkstar Augur. Of course, that’s a rare, so it shows up way less frequently than Rabbit, but it’s there

Is Dominaria actually a widely-disliked Limited? I don’t remember ever hearing negative opinions about it, so your opening comments about it were a surprise

My personal feel is that the powercreep hit it hard, it is even hard to evaluate the cards because they seem so weak in comparison with modern sets. But the lords never liked Dominaria, if I remember correctly.

I think the one thing you missed was combat tricks ... You briefly covered crumb and get it and scales of shale but didn't mention how good combat tricks were in this format. Crumb and get it, scales of shale, and overprotect all give indestructible. Hell even the blue shore up gives hex proof. All can provide blow outs and are hard to play around

I feel like the number-based grading system has promise, but we're seeing foreshadowing of what I was afraid of: most cards will end up being 4, 1, or 0. I think a better approach for getting what the Lords are trying to achieve is the following points system: 2 points for each archetype in which it is very good, 1 point for each archetype in which it's fine-but-not-great, and 0 points for decks where it's basically unplayable. This results in a point value that -- at the very least -- gives a sense of valuation for commons early in the draft when you don't know what colors you are. Using this system, you'd end up with Bakersbane Duo as a 7 or 8, Treeguard Duo is similar, and a bunch of the duos end up in the 3-5 range. The last two only get 1-2 points, probably, and that follows the rankings Ben & Ethan gave. Just spitballing here, but I've been thinking about this card evaluation issue for a few sets, and this is the first idea of mine that felt like it had legs.

Agreed that if they go numbers, they would need to do something like this, as grading a C+ in every deck and C- in every deck as the same 4 conceals a lot of info

Eddymurk Crab and Daring Waverider were incredible cards. My best archetype was UB and Daring Waverider with removal is nuts. The crab was adored by HamTV and Dafore. Paul Cheon won the arena open with a rareless RW deck. I watch often and you guys will always be on my rotation of limited content to watch, but this episode seems very surface level like you guys didn't have the patience to see the set mature over time.

I love the raccoon deck. "The Expendables"! Imagine Brambleguard Veteran with a cigar, Bark-Knuckle Boxer duel wielding pistols, and Junk Blade Bruiser with a bazooka.

i actually really liked azorius birds when it came together. i had my first 7 win draft was a birds and frogs deck. 2 dour port mage, 2 plumecreed mentor, 1 kastral, 1 plumecreed escort, and 1 whiskervale forerunner. that's what i remember. most of the rest was filler. but the deck was great and got a quick 7/0. i think the problem wasn't lack of power, but rather that it rarely came together. and i think part of that is that it was the one deck that wasn't just a streamlined synergy deck. most other archetypes had key synergy cards that no other decks wanted. but azorius was asking for birds and good non-birds. and the good non-birds were contested by all the other decks, leaving you with half a deck sometimes.

My opponent had 2 Jolly Gerbils last night and drew like 8 cards from a few crumb and get it's and longstalk brawls. They still lost cuz I had a nutso frogs deck

34:00 why you guessing when there is metric available? In premier draft it was one of the fastest and play first tilted formats. In traditional draft it's average.

disagree with your take on red/white and valiant. deck has the highest high of any archetype. also the number 1 thing you should have started with is that blue white is an actually unplayable archetype 99.9% of the time
