"It's not just whoever makes the most rectangles wins, it's whoever uses their rectangles better wins." This is the stunning insight on Magic that I came here for.

It is a sin that Food Fight doesn't create a food on ETB, even if only for the flavour. (Pun intended)

I liked this set. Drafted extreme decks I don't normally...like super hard control all counters and draw 3s that's so fun (who dosent love to draw 3) and super go wide tokens with rat catcher and recruiter. For me this was a refreshing change but probably more about me stepping out of my Midrange comfort zone.

I really struggled at the beginning of Woe. 3-3s almost across the board. Lately I've been improving to 5+ wins per.

I think when you say "the price increase won't be a big deal", you just fail to take into consideration other regions of the planet that are NOT the U.S.A, or Canada, or countries in Europe (though, even some people in those countries were complaining a lot more about the price increase). But for countries in South America, it's a seismic hit to paper play that will be incredibly hard to recover from, as set boosters are already proportionally more expensive due to import costs and the rise in prices of booster packs goes hand in hand with the precipituous downfall of the economy of most countries down here. It threatens to kill entire communities here, where tables are already hard to fill, and I think a lot of people are very shortsighted and egoist in their takes about the issue.

I love WOE! One of my fave of this year, actually because you had to found a lane and then can do almost anything. Also did some weird stuff with cards like season of growth etc and all targeting cards which felt as cool buildarounds.

Nothing in this set was particularly egregious or annoying, but I still didn't enjoy it that much. There was no archetype I was looking forward to playing, it all felt pretty flat.

I've done the same thing putting an opponent on light blades when they had Princess saga on the board, then not attacking to get my creature back. Chef kiss. Gotta give credit to the Lords just got my first RCQ top eight in Bellingham. You guys have helped me so much with my game and enjoyment of the hobby.

This was my first limited format that I really went hard on by studying and practicing, so it will have a special place for me. Hatching plans is my favorite card of the format. Without it, blue would fall flat.

I couldn’t point out any glaring issues with this set as a draft format, but I didn’t end up playing it that much. I’d rank in middle of the pack for modern limitedb

Dang… same with MOM, you guys think green is the worst in WOE? All due respect bc you guys are better at this game than me, but is it possible that you guys just don’t gel with playing green as much as playing with, say, blue
@LordsofLimited

Anything's possible, but I (Ethan) think we've got it right here. One color has to be the worst, doesn't mean it's bad, and we did say we thought BG was the 2nd best deck in the format. What did we miss about green in MOM? And what do you say about the data we discussed? Hard to argue with no green commons in the top 20 commons among top players sorted by GIHWR.

@@LordsofLimited well what I mean to say I guess is that this is the second format where consensus had green at 3rd best and you guys had it at 5th, and my takeaway is that maybe you guys just generally don’t like attributes associated with green. It’d be a fair stance if so. With regards to data, you make a good argument in this podcast, but there are plenty of times you both criticize using data as the end all be all argument. 17lands data (while lovely) is always going to be plagued with selection bias, and we can use it to tell many contradicting stories. For example, green is also overdrafted much more than blue is (possibly because they had arguably the best suite of uncommons and some absurd rares). In fact, green cards on average are picked earlier than any other color at common according to ALSA, even more than white or black, and blue is drafted the least (hamlet glutton is taken about as often as cut in, for instance, and about twice as early as Fae Court). So, even if the best drafter in the world sits down and ends up in green, they will find their pool worse on average. If your argument is “blue is better on arena Bo1 draft right now”, then sure, maybe that’s the more relevant point and it’d be unreasonable of me to expect those qualifiers every single episode. But blues strength, I’d argue, is more a function of how insanely open it was almost every draft on arena. (Btw Hope my tone didn’t sound angry or snobby here, love the podcast and can’t argue with the results you both have put up in this format)
