You are watching Prof Eric Schluessel from George Washington University discuss his new translation of The Tarikh-i Ḥamidi, an early 20th century history of Xinjiang, originally written by Musa Sayrami. It chronicles a Muslim rebellion against the Qing empire in the late 19th century, presenting a distinctly Uyghur perspective on China, Eurasia, and the world.
This in-person conversation took place on Tuesday, 7th May 2024 at the Manchester China Institute (MCI) and was moderated by Dr Rian Thum from the University of Manchester.
