A sentence should not be set aside a mere decade later without considering the rights of victims and their families, and the decisions of the judge at the time of conviction. SB 952 increases the age from 18 to 25 for automatic parole eligibility of those convicted of murder and other serious crimes if committed before that age, even if their sentence was without the possibility of parole. The bill passed the Judiciary Committee along party lines.
