Maxson Goh Films The Scania K230UB Demonstrator SBS8033D with it's original front on Service 335 and Service 105. The prototype interior is highlighted in this video. This demonstrator is much more stable as compared to the later production batch, which would vibrate and shake wildly upon acceleration and braking.
SBS8033D was the demonstrator unit received by SBS Transit for initial evaluation of the Scania K230UB for a major potential order of wheelchair accessible single-deck buses at that time. It is differentiated from the production units by its slightly different front design, the prototype purple interior scheme and fuel inlets that is placed on both sides of the bus. It did not have any seats (officially "adult and child seat", nicknamed as "granny seat") on the front wheel arch. Air-conditioning was supplied by Carrier-Sutrak, different from the production Euro IV K230UBs. The K230UB uses the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology that does away the need for additives in exhaust treatment. It was powered by the Scania DC9 Euro IV engine (8,867cc), and fitted with the ZF Ecomat 6HP504C 6-speed automatic transmission. Bodied by Gemilang Coachworks of Malaysia (where similar units were delivered to RapidKL), it received Coolair EDS that was to become standard for the next 500 production Euro IV units.
