A thing I did love during the time I was breeding rats was the genetic part with all the recessives, dominants genes! It was super interesting! And to chose a repro for the future parent we already have depending of those genes (and the personnality and health backstory, of course) is always a pleasure because even if you know the ratio, you still can have surprises and and little beauties going up your expectations!!! And let's be honest: to be able to accompagny babies for their littles lives and see them grow in your hands, open their little eyes and all, that's a pleasure in its own!!

I think the description on finding out who the dad is was a little flawed. Even though technically it should be either 25% scaleless or 50% scaleless it’s possible that the scaleless male could have been the father of the big clutch and still only 2-3 come out scaleless like him or more than half could come out looking like him.
