Scalextric and other 1/32 cars can often have sloppy gear meshes. This slop or backlash contributes to noise, vibration and a minor loss of performance. A simple fix in some cases is to fit aftermarket gears that are of better quality, and fit straight onto the motor and rear axle. I prefer to keep the standard gears, as removing and replacing the press fit wheels is never a good idea. I have found by doing minor mods to the motor end-bell the motor can be moved backwards by a few hundredths of a millimetre to give a vastly better gear mesh. The video shows how to move the motor at minimal cost with no chassis modifications.
