New sub here. I was hoping for more info on John Brown's raid. Brown's raid contributed to Lincoln's election in 1860, and Jefferson Davis "cited the attack as grounds for Southerners to leave the Union, 'even if it rushes us into a sea of blood. Location of the federal arsenal etc. This raid was the precursor to the Civil War. oh well. The geography reminds me of the three rivers area of Pittsburgh, with the confluence of rivers. Interesting area now on the bucket list. good vid.

this area is well worth a trip- We could have spent much more time diving deeper into the history for sure, but it was just a quick one day stop & that rafting trip wiped us out!! We will be back for sure & may stay at the KOA next time so we are closer to town & get more time to explore

This is 30 minutes from our house in Frederick, MD and was so fun to watch. It's so familiar and I'm bursting for better weather to go back.

Still own the Scamp? People are selling these 10 years later for what they bought them for when new.

yup we still have the Scamp! even before the RV rush Scamp held its value well - hopefully that makes up for all the money invested for upkeep 😂

Hi Andy, it can be a challenge to find music that is free to use in videos without copyright that doesn't sound like club music! the opening song is called Dawn. I will put the info in the show notes

Thanks Ken, I hope we get to hike this section of the AT at some point. It must be fun to be in the woods & then find yourself in such a cute town (with lots of places to eat 😁) and then head back into the woods

The AT Headquarters is located in Harpers Ferry. Follow High St. up the hill. Sooo many layers of history in that town. You can easily spend a weekend there hiking and learning. There is also no more beautiful place on Earth than Harpers Ferry in the Fall !

Great video. It’s really quiet in Harpers Ferry. Is that normal? Thanks for sharing.

we travel during what we call the "golden time" - after labor day when kids are back in school and the crowds of the summer are gone, but before the weather gets cold. We have really good luck getting good campsites & enjoying popular areas without big crowds. I bet it gets crowded in the summer because Harpers Ferry is a rather small area with not much parking

Enjoyed the last video ,but I'm never going rafting around in strong winds ,but do tell.me someone would've come looking for you guys if you didn't turn up more than a hour late

they tell you to bring your phone so you can call if there is a problem (but we didn't because we were afraid of dropping it in the river, even though we had the dry bag) and the driver was looking for us at the end, but he knew the wind was strong so it would take us longer. Next time we will bring the phone in the Otter Box and make sure it is tied to the lifejacket so it can't get lost- lessons were learned so we will be smarter next time!

You can see the heights all around the town where the Confederates bombarded the Federals in town until they surrendered during the Civil War. Like shooting fish in a barrel, as they say.

Loved the video. You found so many interesting things in and around town. Including the maps, signs, etc. Those things are very helpful for those of us intending to visit in the future. It’s great how you connect the series at the beginning and end of the videos.

we try to include information that would be helpful to others that want to visit because we do a lot of research on youtube before a trip & find it to be helpful. Watching videos can be a great way to experience places that we may never get to visit, but I hope that these videos also make people want to go out and experience these places themselves if possible!

Another great video. Harper's Ferry is such a neat place. With my challenges, I can no longer walk the town and trails like I had done so many times growing up. When you were walking down the path by the river to your left and the road to your right, that's is the proximity where we're had had many picnics on sundays. (Boy, I'm starting to sound like my father, shiver shiver) Anyway, glad you had a great time. Keep up the great work, have fun and be safe.

we almost skipped Harpers Ferry on this trip because we didn't want to camp at a KOA, but I am glad that we found Greenbrier State Park & made the trip down here- well worth it. We didn't film it but after we got candy at the old time candy shop we had a "candy picnic" down by the river 😂 such a fun little town. Glad it brings back good memories!

Ro give you an update in the walking trail you took on the bridge by the train tracks. On Dec 21 CSX derailed on the bridge, toppling over the walkway. See link. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2IuenHV-f2h2lWk
